Can Maya overcome her fear of what her family might think of her? And how will Quinn's parents, who used to be Maya's next-door neighbors, react to their daughter's unconventional love affair?

Lust, love, and life with Bliss

Another capturing Harper Bliss age gap romance. A story you want to time travel into so you can meet the characters. You become immersed in their lives as you eavesdrop on them in most private moments. You feel their conflicts, their love, and desires. Angela Dawe puts the remaining heart and soul in each voice, not to mention desirable tones for the most intimate scenes in the book. Another great read by Harper Bliss with Angela Dawe icing on her words.

Such a beautiful book

I have listened to this book 5x now. It is an amazing story. I love how the characters learn to overcome their fears and grow together. The family’s acceptance of the age gap was understandable however the way the author brought them around to acceptance was perfect.

Love, waiting to explore is the best I can state

Love is still open for any age. This is definitely something that I would even consider if I found the right woman for me, which I did find the right woman for me and I still am in love as much as possible but this book brings love to a whole new level , ends is entirely up to the individual person, but this book conveys everything and I do mean everything of how I feel.

Not my favorite

I love Harper Bliss books but this one was a struggle. It was fairly bland compared to many other HB books I’ve read and didn’t really feel like much happened throughout.

Bliss + Dawe = Magic

When I first started listening to this book, I thought, "Hmmm.... This is going to be a naughty one, it seems like." And while it was indeed sexy, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it became a very nicely fleshed out age gap romance.

I'm one of those that finds it fascinating that some people are almost exclusively attracted to people significantly older than them. I'm talking about people old enough to be their parents. While in this book it alludes to that resulting from "mommy issues" I have to wonder how much of that is true. I also find it interesting that while it doesn't altogether gross me out in woman/woman relationships, it often does with much older men with younger women. I'll need to ponder that some more.

I appreciated in this book that the "older" woman, Maya, a former professional dancer who now owns her own studio and in the beginning of the book is in her mid-40s - really struggles with it too. She's taken aback by the passion she finds with her next door neighbor's daughter, Quinn, who is half her age and relentlessly pursues her one weekend when her parents are away. Because this was very much Quinn's idea, there's none of that creepy vibe going. A woman in her mid 40s really is in her prime, so I can see how some might be very attractive to someone in her mid-20s.

While Maya gets so caught up in the moment that she allows something to happen between them - and what a night it is! - she knows nothing can ever come of it because of who they are and where they are in their lives. She had previously been married to a man for many years and has never even looked at another woman before. And she makes that clear to Quinn that one night of passion is all it will ever be.

Fast forward ten years and who happens to run into the other when both are now living in New York City? And what happens when the spark is still there? It would still be a forbidden relationship, after all. Maya was friends with Quinn's parents for so many years and she has a son and a new grandchild to consider. Surely there would be someone better suited for Maya in a city of millions. I mean, what would her son think if she suddenly decided not only to start dating women, but their much younger former next door neighbor that's only a handful of years older than him?

I found this to be a good and very hot listen. In the very capable hands of the legendary Angela Dawe, not only is it way up there on the steam scale, but she also brilliantly captures Maya's internal angst. There are also some interesting secondary characters including Maya's new flamboyantly gay next door neighbor, who has many opinions about what she should do and what she should and shouldn't worry about. I also found it refreshing how Maya handled things once she got a handle on what her feelings really were.

This has me thinking more - not less - about age gap relationships. Can they really work? What happens way down the road? Interesting food for thought. I liked that this has an epilogue as I think it's beneficial for a story like this. Fans of Bliss and Dawe will be pleased with this one. It's hard to go wrong with that combo.

Refreshing

A very refreshing book. A pleasant change from the usual story line of a break up from a misunderstanding and then reuniting in the final chapter. A great story with great narration.

FANTASTIC book !!

All the characters were so distinct… loved the MCs… the storyline was well developed. Excellent narration- Mya’s voice was everything for me.
The issues dealt with felt very real to the point of feeling angst with the responses.
Would listen again.. so well written!!

Age Gap Romance

which is the specialty of Harper Bliss standalone romances. is the theme of this, one of her best works. As usual the older half of the May/December LesRom fights her feelings and is able to rationalize all the reasons that what she feels is inappropriate, and all the reasons that it will never work out. I believe that this theme is autobiographical fiction for the author and she does it well, though it would be nice if she would make at least some small variations to the plot. This is well thought out, well written version of a typical Harper Bliss romance; I'm glad I chose this book.
