Light holiday read (listen) with some depth

I liked this book. I only listened to the audiobook. That makes it hard to judge the writing, but it seemed good. I did find it jarring the way each chapter ended abruptly. That made the book not really flow for me. I liked the characters and the plot and tropes. I could feel Eileen's pain and struggles. What exactly happened to Eileen? I especially liked the parts about her recovery. In spite of some of the serious plot aspects, it was a light holiday story. I just wished for more depth overall. The narrator was very good but not exceptional. I will probably read or listen to this book again, but it's not a favorite, although there were some really good bits. I liked the concept of turtles used throughout. I love turtles.

I enjoyed the characters!

I liked the story but wasn’t crazy for the narration. I feel I would have enjoyed it much more if the characters were easier to differentiate.
I appreciated that the characters were well developed and the fact that this was a collaborative effort was intriguing.

Sweet story

This was a sweet story of an age gap romance. It was special in dealing with Eileen’s rehabilitation from a stroke and the developing relationship between Eileen and Naomi. The plot development was good and the narrator was also good,

Naomi’s resilience and Eileen’s determination

I really wanted their love to win over Eileen’s domineering mother. I’m glad Eileen realized how much she loved Naomi and that the relationship was what she wanted.

Short chapters

I only just started and I am enjoying this book, but these are some really short chapters. I wish I had looked at the runtime of this audiobook before I got it because it's pretty short and that's kind of disappointing. It's cute and I like the characters and it's well narrated, but it just feels disappointing. I guess if you're looking for a short book or short chapters than this is the one for you. However, if you're looking for something a little better developed then you might not wanna do this one.

What a wonderful story!

I found the Audible experience here superb. Stephanie Murphy as the Narrator does her magic with this book and I couldn’t bring myself to pause the play button. The characters were refreshing and sassy, with some tension filled crazy family drama added in. It’s a wonderfully written aged gap romance that our two Authors “Harper Bliss & T.B Markinson” have nailed. If you enjoy this type of book and or love these authors like I have...Go ahead and give this one a listen 🎧 📖 you won’t be disappointed 5⭐️

Never too old to find love

You would think at 49 Yrs old and 30 yrs abroad Eileen would be able to stand up to her mother. Naomi is full of life and good deeds. She is interested in cracking Eileen’s Christmas grumpy mood. This story is full of family drama and romance. These two authors make a great combination and Stephanie is a wonderful narrator. I found it made me laugh and what to smack some sense in the characters. I loved it.

An Age-Gap Romance With Lots of Growth

First, it’s worth noting that the age gap between Eileen and Naomi was a well-thought-out aspect of Life in Bits. It added an interesting dynamic and created some challenges (both expected and unexpected). At times, it felt like it was played up too much.

Despite this, both Eileen and Naomi were likable characters in their own ways. Eileen was strong and determined, working hard to overcome her stroke’s physical and emotional challenges. Given her family dynamic, it seems like it was just as difficult for her to talk about the stroke. Seeing her progress and learn to be herself (and love who she is, even recovering from the stroke) was heartwarming. Naomi was also sympathetic, and her feelings for Eileen were clear. It was easy to root for their relationship and hope that they could overcome the challenges they faced.

While the age-gap jokes were often funny, they sometimes felt a bit overdone. However, this didn’t distract from the overall enjoyment of the book.

This next section is specifically for those who never know what they’re getting into – but I will say how Eileen dealt with her mom and how she was spoken to hit home hard for me. I just wanted to give a quick narcissistic mom trigger warning because there are some scenes where I had to get out of my own head after reading it. There was a funny, probably throw-away line later in the book that is exactly how I felt about my situation. Long story short – Bliss and Markinson nail the mom and how Eileen reacts/acts toward her.

Finally, Stephanie Murphy did a great job as the narrator, bringing the characters to life with her performance. She added depth and emotion to the story, and her voice was pleasant to listen to. Overall, she did a pretty good job of bringing the romance to life.

Overall, this was a charming and heartwarming romance that was well-written and enjoyable. This book is worth checking out if you’re a fan of age-gap romances. I’ve read stories from both Harper Bliss and T.B. Markinson and loved them. So, Life in Bits was the panic “oh no, I need a cute Christmas novel,” I finished just after Christmas.
