Publisher's summary

An intimate, powerful, and insightful playbook for navigating the world’s most confusing people, brought to life by the host of the globally acclaimed Toxic-Person Proof podcast.

In a rare combination of humor, vulnerability, and knowledge, the woman who has been deemed “the success fairy” and “the narcissist ninja” explores the peace and confidence we discover when we learn to trust ourselves rather than trusting the wrong types of people.

Toxic people talk you out of listening to your intuition. They talk you out of seeing the red flags and make you feel like you are overreacting when you notice odd behavior. They talk you out of believing yourself and teach you to believe their lies instead. How do they do it? Why do we believe them? And, why do so many good people end up in bad situations?

It is unusual to find a book as funny, thought-provoking, and life-changing as Becoming Toxic Person Proof. This book finally bridges the gap between studying toxic personalities and actually keeping yourself safe from them! Sarah provides the insights used to successfully help people around the world, stop talking about their toxic people problems and start solving their toxic people problems. She flips the script on traditional notions such as codependency and teaches you how toxic people use your strengths against you. Her research has shown that healing and happiness isn’t found in studying narcissism, but in the triumph of a life well lived. Whether you’ve been taken advantage of by a boss or coworker, want to protect someone you love from a toxic person entanglement or are dealing with a toxic ex, you’ll find hope and help within these pages.

Very Helpful Quick Read

Very helpful quick read. She really captures the mindset of those who tend to be most manipulated by toxic personalities. The concept of smart girl/guy versus codependent also highly resonates. Not all susceptible people have the self esteem issues in the beginning that are typically present at the end of these types of relationships, but end up being assumed as codependent types.

Narration feels too peppy with too much vocal tonation, but grew on me. Love the humor added as well.

Rocked me to the core

I just got myself out of a narcissistic abusive relationship, although I didn’t know that’s what it was. I stumbled across it when I googled things that occurred in my relationship. I ended the relationship but went back after 6!weeks. It was worse than ever. Being empathetic and codependent I believed him saying it was my fault. I made him treat me this way. I was the problem because I had a dismissive avoidant attachment style. I walked on eggshells and was constantly anxious. He was the problem, not me!!!!!! This book helped me to see and kept me continuing the no contact rule. Thank you Sarah!

A Cut Above the Rest!!!

I started listening to your book last night on Audible and I have to say, after devouring 7 books on toxic people and Narcissistic abuse (all my family members score very high in the Narcissistic and sociopathic scales) your book is a cut above the rest as you give a very empowering message. It’s very easy to go victim when your angry at your abusers and mostly angry at yourself for letting them abuse you like that for most of your life. But you call forth the inner light warrior in each person who’s suffered to not be a victim but rise in forgiveness and acceptance of the past. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your work and having the courage to serve others in this realm. Your pain was for a greater purpose. Thank you ♥️

Narration is unbearable

Could not even get through the 2nd chapter because the intonations are so erratic and nonsensical. Too much variation in tones and dramatic pauses and emphasis that were not necessary. It is hard to concentrate to listen because it is very distracting :(
