About this listen

A cut-through-the-crap guide to quitting the self-destructive habits that undermine happiness and success

How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t is a straight-shooting self-improvement guide for women, one that offers frank advice about the most common self-destructive behaviors women engage in. Andrea Owen—a nationally sought-after life coach—crystallizes what’s behind several invisible, undermining habits, from catastrophizing and people-pleasing to listening to the imposter complex or to one’s inner critic. Powerfully on the mark, the chapters are short and digestible, nicely bypassing weighty examinations in favor of punch points of awareness. Her book kicks women’s gears out of autopilot and empowers listeners to create happier, more fulfilling lives.

Now updated to address new challenges including the COVID-19 global pandemic, the toxic positivity of the self-care industry, and the destructive impact of social media, How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t enjoins listeners to overcome their negative habits with compassion and understanding.

This is my first review for the audiobook I have been listening to help me get through my tough time. I think this one is the best. It’s on point to every problem I have lately. I feel like I just wake up from my nightmares. I suggest everyone who has been feeling unhappy of your life to listen to this book. It will change your life. I’m starting to feel it already.

By the way, I’m in the LGBT community. I don’t know that I have a lot of common problems like women (and probably more). But I think anyone can relate to this book not just women anyway.

Best self-help books and not just for women

just as with her first book, 52 ways to live your kickass life, this was another fabulous, relatable, helpful read that was so impactful in helping rewire my inner critic voice in the back of my head to come less from a place of judgement and more from a place of unbiased observation as well as to be more compassionate to myself. would read any book written by her. I also love the way she reads the book aloud

Helpful. Relatable. Compassionate.

When I began to listen to this audiobook, I knew that it was written for women in particular.

However, the ideas are universal and I highly recommend it to anyone else looking for ways in self improvement.

Not just for Women

Fantastic. I bought this as a commuter book, and now I’m truly inspired. This is such a real take on how to handle situations life throws at you. It’s not overzealous on “what the universe can give you.” Quite frankly, it more about how you can serve to better both the world and yourself. Highly recommend.

Amazing!
