About this listen
Big Goals: The Science of Setting Them, Achieving Them, and Creating Your Best Life delves deeply into effective goal setting practices for both personal growth and corporate excellence, empowering individuals across all ages to pursue their ambitions with a newfound sense of confidence and mastery. Listeners of this book will gain a nuanced understanding of the little-known science of goal setting, with practical tools and unique worksheets to use on their goal-achieving journey.
The insight in this book is powered by fifteen years of exciting findings of positive psychology, along with Caroline Adams Miller's extensive experience as an executive coach. In this book, listeners will learn about the newest science on mindset, grit, Artificial Intelligence, resilience, and gender perspectives; Miller's novel BRIDGE methodology, which addresses the "how" between the assignment of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); and Locke and Latham's Goal Setting Theory (GST) and why it has been proven to work so well.
No matter whether you're scared to start, sick of failure, or somewhere in between, Big Goals explains the new approach you need to more confidently and effectively move forward towards achieving your goals in your personal and professional life.

Story
For many people, a good life is a stable life, a comfortable life that follows a well-trodden path. This is the case for Shigehiro Oishi's father, who has lived in a small mountain town in Japan for his entire life, putting his family's needs above his own, like his father and grandfather before him. But is a happy life, or even a meaningful life, the only path to a good life? In Life in Three Dimensions, Shige Oishi enters into a debate that has animated psychology since 1984, when Ed Diener (Oishi's mentor) published a paper that launched happiness studies.

Story
Whether it’s anxiety about going to the doctor, boiling rage when we’re stuck in traffic, or devastation after a painful break-up, our lives are filled with situations that send us spiraling. But as difficult as our emotions can be, they are also a superpower. Far from being “good” or “bad,” emotions are information. When they’re activated in the right ways and at the right time, they function like an immune system, alerting us to our surroundings, telling us how to react to a situation, and helping us make the right choices. But how do we make our emotions work for us rather than against us?

Overwork is the new normal. Rest is something to do when the important things are done - but they are never done. Looking at different forms of rest, from sleep to vacation, Silicon Valley futurist and business consultant Alex Soojung-Kim Pang dispels the myth that the harder we work the better the outcome. He combines rigorous scientific research with a rich array of examples of writers, painters, and thinkers - from Darwin to Stephen King - to challenge our tendency to see work and relaxation as antithetical.

MicroSkills is built on one core, easy-to-learn principle: every big goal, complicated task, healthy habit, and, yes, even what we think of as character traits, can be broken down into small, learnable, skills that can be practiced, and incorporated real-time. We call these: MicroSkills. As award winning physicians, educators, and mentors we hear the gamut of challenges with navigating the workplace. And when we learn a lesson we often wish we had learned it earlier. MicroSkills is packed with the privileged information that you want delivered to you as efficiently as possible.

YouTube gave them everything they needed: exposure, opportunity, and clients who would benefit most from their services. In Passive Prospecting, Levi and Travis lay out the principles of implementing a successful marketing strategy built around YouTube.

Life isn’t linear, and yet we try to mold it around linear goals: four-year college degrees, ten-year career plans, thirty-year mortgages. What if instead we approached life as a giant playground for experimentation? Based on ancestral philosophy and the latest scientific research, Tiny Experiments provides a desperately needed reframing: Uncertainty can be a state of expanded possibility and a space for metamorphosis. Neuroscientist and entrepreneur Anne-Laure Le Cunff reveals that all you need is an experimental mindset to turn challenges into self-discovery and doubt into opportunity.

The author proposed an improved method of setting and working on goals. We get anecdotes of various successful people. No idea if these people worked with the author or not. she does not hesitate to mention here other books and authorship.
Old goal setting was invented by men so it's bad. Now you can skip the introduction and history section. Nothing in the first half has much of anything to do with her GST method.
if there is a study, say a few hundred people used the authors method, others doing smart goals, some just writing them down and the results are... yeah, never happened in two long flights listening to the audio. I gave up.
What is the point?
