About this listen

In this sequel to Randy Henderson's acclaimed debut novel, Finn Fancy Necromancy, Finn Gramaraye is settling back into the real world after his twenty-five-year-long imprisonment in the otherworld of the Fey. He's fallen in love again with Dawn, the girl next door who waited for him. He's proved his innocence of the original crime of Dark Necromancy, and he's finding a place in the family business - operating a mortuary for the Arcane, managing the magical energies left behind when an Arcane being dies to prevent it from harming the mundane world.

But Finn wants more. Or different. Or something. He's figured out how to use the Kinfinder device created by his half-mad father to find people's True Love, and he'd like to convert that into an Arcane Dating Service. It's a great idea. Everyone wants True Love! Unfortunately, trouble always seems to find Finn, and when he agrees to help his friend, the Bigfoot named Sal, they walk right into a Feyblood rebellion against the Arcane Ruling Council, a rebellion being fomented by unknown forces and fueled by the drug created by Finn's own grandfather.

Fun and entertaining

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bigfootloose and Finn Fancy Free?

All of the fight scenes are superbly written and preformed, but the dance off is one of the funniest scenes I've ever heard.

What about Todd Haberkorn’s performance did you like?

His ability to add to the story with the distinct characterizations he chose.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Love for Bigfoot or bust.

Any additional comments?

As good as the first book in the series.

Fun Series

Any additional comments?

This is a fun series with interesting characters. Story is decent, not over done, but suits the characters really well. Lots of snarky humor with a great narration.

Great story

I love this series. It has great characters, and the story kept me wanting to hear more. I have to admit the main reason I chose this series was because Todd Haberkorn voiced it. He does such an amazing job. He doesn't just read the story he makes it come alive by giving each character their own voice. Really gives the story more depth.

Looking forward to number 3.

This was an excellent second installment of a fun new series. The performance was equally good, but I did have one issue with it. In the first book, the narrator voiced Dawn as a strong and confident black woman and it fit the character perfectly. However, in this story, the narrator changes Dawn's voice to something you would expect from a perky teenage girl, not a strong fortyish black woman. It does not fit and I cringed every time Dawn spoke.

Conflicted Greatness

I really enjoy this series. It is a series that I look forward to listening to. Plenty of magic, controversy, imperfect protagonist, dysfunctional family. It's an every day Joe living in a magical world who got screwed over with false imprisonment. Finn. Self destructive under achiever with a big heart and never give up attitude. Mort. The brother whose leg you just want to pee on. Most people should be able to identify with most aspects of this story.
However, a few issues: gratuitous sex (not much, but unnecessary, could have been made known in a better way), unnecessary taking of God's name in vain (what would happen if it were Allah? It would cause a lot of offense and be removed). And Dawn went from being a STRONG black woman in the 1st book to being a whining, ignorant sounding valley girl in this book. I liked the narrator's voicing of most of the characters in this book but winced every time he voiced Dawn. What happened? Why the change?
Overall it is worth the listen but could have been better.
