About this listen
Jennifer Owens has her fair share of troubles, what with being pestered by dead people and having to dodge the spells cast by her best friend, Becky, who is the worst witch in the history of witchcraft. On top of that, she has to contend with a sex-mad octogenarian who seems to be stalking her. She doesn't think things can get any worse. But then she becomes the target of a band of vampires who wanted to protect a secret that only she can unlock, if only she can figure out what it is! A steaming hot vampire slayer is determined to be her knight in shining armor, but is he real or another one of Becky's silly spells? And would they be able to figure out the vampire secret before she becomes their dinner?

Story
Okay, fine! I’m not really going to stake Colin or his brother, the insufferable, bossy-fanged Darcy Blackmore. At least not as long as I can find another way to stop our siblings from getting hitched. My sister, Lizzy, won’t admit it, but she doesn’t love Colin. She’s sacrificing herself so we can stay in Nightfall, New Hampshire, and renew the magical shield keeping the paranormal creatures here, including witches like us, safe from human discovery.

Story
The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.

From Charlaine Harris, the best-selling author who created Sookie Stackhouse and her world of Bon Temps, Louisiana, comes a darker locale - populated by more strangers than friends. Story
Spencer Quinn’s first original audio short story reveals how everyone’s favorite detective duo - Chet the Dog and P.I. Bernie Little - came to meet before their first big case in Dog On It. As fans know, Chet first met Bernie on that fateful day when he flunked out of K-9 police school. The details of that day, though, have always remained a little vague (like so much in Chet’s doggy brain). All we know is that Chet had been the best leaper in his K-9 class, but for some reason he failed his final leaping test...and that a cat was involved...and that there was some blood. But whose?

Ok
I listen to a lot of books and this one was just ok. It really wasn't very funny or witty which is surprising given the reviews. I typically love this type of book but this one was off the mark. The plot wasn't particularly engaging. The characters weren't developed enough to draw you into the story either.
Even if you are able to buy on sale, I say skip it. There are better books in this genre.

Not quite one thing or another
This is a cute story, complete with a witch with a bit of a hiccup to her spells, a group of confused vampires, a very hot vampire hunter, and oh yes, a talking dog, thanks to the witch who gets things just a bit wrong. The dog's owner, an ordinary mortal who must live with her best friend's wonky spells, is just trying to live her life.
I am not sure why I don't like this book as well as I thought I would. I think it is trying so hard to be funny that it seems a bit strained. It also can't decide if it is British chick lit (the dog can't decide if it has a leash or a lead), light romantic paranormal, or just screwball comedy.
The narrator is wonderful and makes some rather silly banter work. She even does a good aggravated dog.

Fun, Smart and Sexy!
I found this book by accident while searching for another title and I'm pleasantly surprised!
The story hooks you right from the start and as the story builds there are a lot of fun and intriguing add on that make this book totally unique and addicting.
I love the sharp wit and colorful language that makes the scene in my mind much more colorful and funny.
it also has excellent sexual tension and charisma that makes you yell and shake the book as to egg the characters to just do it already!
The Narrator does an amazing job and her voice and passion in the story is contagious.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves RomCom!
Can't wait for the next book from this author.

Fun Read
I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this one as much as I did with the mixed reviews. But I did! I thought the narration was good with Emily Gray. The story was funny, sexy moments, a little action, and a talking dog. Monty's voice was a little hard to handle, but he was raunchy and funny. I think that this book will not be for everyone, but if you want something that's just a fun read and don't put your expectations to high, you can enjoy it.

Fun escape from the normal. Enjoyed 20 June 2020.
I really enjoyed this book. There were so many times I laughed out loud. I also liked the narration. I did listen at a 1.4x speed. Really, the only thing that I didn’t care for was a much longer gap between the chapters. I am so glad that I found this book while looking for funny books in the audible escape subscription. Now I am going to listen to the rest from this author. Enjoy.

Meh...
I'm just not impressed. Maybe it was the narration. I couldn't keep the characters straight because they all sounded the same. I finished the book two days ago and I don't even remember the story.
It wasn't awful. Just meh.

A fun, often hysterical, adventure!
Where does Bite the Big One! rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Top 10. One of the best!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Bite the Big One!?
The talking dog. Too funny!
What about Emily Gray’s performance did you like?
Very good job. She really brought it to life.
If you could take any character from Bite the Big One! out to dinner, who would it be and why?
The dog. He was so funny and so like a real dog.
Any additional comments?
The pacing was very well done. This book is almost a balancing act between adventure, romance, and humor. One moment you are absorbed in the adventure, then something funny would completely catch you off guard, and then ,surprise, the romance would heat up. Never a dull moment.
An absolutely fantastic book :)
