Publisher's summary

A witty, charming standalone novella starring Greta Helsing, doctor to the undead, who must get to the bottom of a mystery involving a newly turned child vampire.

A barrow-wight shows up on Greta and Varney’s doorstep one night with 11-year-old Lucy Ashton who’s been newly—and forcefully—bitten and turned. Who did this to her, and why? With the help of her vampiric friends, Greta is determined to find out.

Back to the Wonderful Banter

As always, this series and these characters are some of my absolute favorites! I love the banter amongst the undead characters and would love to have a full update on the Lucy in the next one. Fingers crossed for a next one!

Great Continuation of Series

It's been a while since the third book so it was nice to get an update on most of them and to enjoy a moment with them. The narration was excellent, the story was (too short) engrossing and more than held my interest. If you've read the series up to now you won't be disappointed. If you haven't, I suggest you do since that would make your enjoyment of this book much greater.

She is back! :)

I was excited and happy to have another Great Helsing story, which did not disappoint. I love Shaw's Helsing universe and the supernatural creatures. I felt this was too short because I wanted to spend more time in this universe. I loved the callbacks to the last three Helsing books and only hope for more—significantly more about the vampires and their hierarchy. The new narrator, Catrin Walker-Booth, brought these characters to life. The new voice didn't affect the story.

Another fun episode

All our favorite characters are back in this shorter story that seems to have been written to hold us over until the next full novel comes out. Not as much drama as in the three previous books but several hints that a vampire issue in America (possibly tied to the earlier mess in Paris) will need to be resolved. That said, I much enjoyed this short book for the story, the wonderful characters, and the excellent writing…all
hallmarks of this series.

The best Dr. Greta Helsing story yet!

We waited such a long time for the next Greta story, and the wait was worth it! This is my favorite of the 4 stories so far, this is like a hot fudge sundae on a beautiful balcony looking at the ocean on a summer night, it's that kind of deliciously good. The publisher's blurb is a bit cryptic, (pardon the pun), so I'll just say that all our favorite characters are present, and busy making things better, and we are introduced to Count Dracula and his wife in the most satisfying, amusing, delightful manner. This is a fun, deeply satisfying, heartwarming story. If you liked the earlier Dr. Greta stories, you'll like this one very much.

Always a treat

As always the story was engaging, but it’s the characters who keep me coming back for more. I think the entire book could have been all our old friends lounging about the place drinking…whatever their drink of choice might be… and chatting and my reaction would still be “5/5 stars, wouldn’t change a thing.”
