About this listen

Book Two in the Thriller Award-nominated Huntress/FBI series

Twenty-five years have passed since a savage killer terrorized California, massacring three ordinary families before disappearing without a trace. The only surviving victim of his rampage was a child…who is now wanted by the FBI for brutal crimes of her own.

Special Agent Matthew Roarke is on an interstate manhunt to track her down, despite feeling torn between his dedication to duty and his sympathy for her horrific history and motives. But when Roarke's search unearths evidence of new family slayings, the dangerous woman he seeks--and secretly wants--may be his only hope of preventing another bloodbath. He just has to find her first.

The pulse-pounding sequel to Huntress Moon is sure to leave listeners on the edges of their seats.

Great series!

This book and book 1 of the series start a little slow BUT well worth the read. The narrator is exceptional and the story is captivating.

Captivating

The book was slow to start. I was almost disappointed as I really like the first book and the momentum. This felt like it was capitalizing off the first book and was about to loose its luster but then it picked up and I found myself not able to turn it off and go to bed. My mind was awake and I wanted to know what happened next.

Addictive series!

Wow. This series is seriously addicting. I actually am rooting for Cara. I like Roark a lot he is obsessed with Cara. She can do some brutal killing.

Cara is more like a vigilante serial killer then just a demented serial killer. I have already read the third book and will leave a review for that next. I am loving this series.

I am enjoying the cat and mouse chase between these two characters.

As for the narration, it’s great I’m loving it. He is doing a great job on the female voices and everybody has their own distinct voice. He is a great reader as well.

Good Mystery/Thriller

I wish that I had read Book 1 first, but the author provided enough background to keep from being lost. The parallel searches for the reaper serial killer/ monster and a second serial killer who was the first killer’s earlier victim Roark in multiple directions. Although a serial killer Cara kills “predators who deserved to die.” While searching for Cara, Roark’s team discover evidence the reaper is killing again after a long break. Roark and his team switch focus to the monster reaper, but keep running across indications that Cara is also nearby.

Great new series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Good series if you like mysteries with a bit of suspense. It has both male and female 'hero' leads, and the protagonists are easy to dislike since they're violent criminals and human traffickers. The author did a nice job building sympathy for Cara the female lead, while still allowing readers to be somewhat horrified by her mission and methods.

What did you like best about this story?

Good writing, with the right detail and a psychological bent. Character development overall has been good.

Which character – as performed by R.C. Bray – was your favorite?

The narration performance was good, including the portrayal of the female lead, Cara.
