About this listen

[Human After All was previously released under the titles, Xom-B, Uprising, and Freeman. The author’s preferred title is Human After All.]

Freeman is a genius with an uncommon mixture of memory, intelligence and creativity. He lives in a worldwide utopia, but it was not always so. There was a time known as the Grind—when Freeman’s people lived as slaves to another race referred to simply as “Master.” They were property. But a civil rights movement emerged. Change seemed near, but the Masters refused to bend. Instead, they declared war.

And lost.

Now, the freed world is threatened by a virus, spread through bites, sweeping through the population. Those infected are propelled to violence, driven to disperse the virus. Uniquely suited to respond to this new threat, Freeman searches for a cure, but instead finds the source—the Masters, intent on reclaiming the world. Freeman must fight for his life, for his friends and for the truth, which is far more complex and dangerous than he ever imagined.

Robinson’s lightning fast, cutting-edge novels have won over thriller, horror, science-fiction and action/adventure fans alike, and he has received high praise from peers like James Rollins, Jonathan Maberry, and Scott Sigler. Human After All is a wildly inventive zombie novel with a high-tech twist that will keep readers guessing until the very last sentence.

MUCH better than expected!

What about R. C. Bray’s performance did you like?

i have listened to r.c. bray a few times now, and he is becoming one of my favorite narrators. he gives each character their own unique voice. he is easy to listen to, and his narration draws you into the story.

Any additional comments?

robots and zombies!?! WTF...i thought! it's not normally a combination i'd consider even though i like them individually. BUT before you make a funny face and utter a derogatory remark, let me stop you there. this is a good zombie story, AND it is a great robot story.

great blend of characters. i found all of the characters interesting, unique, well drawn out, and needed. each character is an important building block of the world the author creates.

xom-b has all of the hallmarks of a good story, but i can't say too much b/c i don't want too spoil your listening experience.

i can usually predict how a story will unfold so i get excited when i'm surprised by a really good twist. there are breadcrumbs interspersed throughout the story, and what they finally lead to, i can honestly say i didn't see it coming.

overall, a good addition to your zombie library. if you're a fan of the zombie genre, this is a no-brainer- get it! but if you're not really into zombies, but you are into sci-fi, definitely give it a try b/c it's a good sci-fi book with a unique twist, and that twist be zombies! it's more AND better than you think!

NOTE: the story is a little slow in the beginning, but please give it a chance. it is well worth it!

NOTE 2: please nobody give away the twist of the story. you'll definitely earn my ire! thanks in advance!

Awesomely written story

This will have you think about the struggle differently experienced by races... casts... and ultimately force you to think what it is to BE human. Loved it!

Walking Dead have nothing on this.

Any additional comments?

I am not a zombie fan - I think it has been massively overdone. This however was a very original take on that plot - clever and well done. This author has yet to fail to deliver in any of his work that I have read. The narrator was a plus and helped make this novel enjoyable.

Intriguing listen

I always enjoy the duo of Robinson and Bray. For the most part the story moved along nicely and kept me wanting to know what’s going to happen next. The major twist at the end and then the other major twist really surprised me. It might be nice to listen to this again, now knowing the twists. It explains a lot. Some parts at the end seemed a bit implausible (in context with the story) and more so deus ex machina. There were some lines that seemed so hokey and a bit out of place. Anyone else seem to think Jeremy uses “cacophony” a lot in his books? I get it’s a great descriptive word, but I feel like it’s used a lot. I think out of my past 17 books, 16 of them have been Jeremy’s and I’ve been listening to some of his earlier stuff.

Another Exciting Example

Here is another example of supreme storytelling by the Amazing Jeremy Robinson. A future tale of betrayal, genocide, and love! Such raw human emotions.

Another Great Tale from JR

This one is definitely worth your time and credit. If you liked ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL you should like this one.
Admittedly I was a little confused on several points and as to what was what and WHO was what, for a big part of the story, and I kept feeling as though I had missed something, but I didn't and it was actually supposed to be that way and in the end all was revealed. JR once again proves himself a master of Imagination.
RC Bray is brilliant as always.

Love Robinson…not a fan of bible stories

Basically Noah’s ark. But instead of a flood…it’s zombies and robots. Most of it is fairly predictable, but nonetheless short and entertaining enough.

Unpredictable plot line

A likeable protagonist and a new twist on a zombie tale make this a good listen. Plus RC Bray is as good as ever.
