Insightful Look Into A Private World
As an author interested in seeing my book transformed into a streaming series, I wanted to learn more about this process. I've watched authors try a variety of routes to get their books to "Hollywood" with little success. It seemed logical to hear the insights an insider who lives and works in this world. I'd heard Maggie speak at a workshop and was impressed with the way she made this world accessible.
This isn't the rambling memoir of an agent, but a very structured and organized description of the main ways that books make it to film or streamers. She walks us through how books get into the right hands, how deals are made, and demystifies the process. She gives a very practical assessment of all the ways that a deal can crash at any point in the process. Overall, I found it to be very informative and helpful.
The author reads the book herself, which adds to the authentic feel of the stories and anecdotes.
