Publisher's summary

From filmmaker, actor, and author Justin Baldoni comes a real-talk, self-esteem-building guidebook that helps boys ages 11 and up embrace their feelings and fears instead of repress them.

Filled with activities, sidebars, and inspirational quotes, this book is the perfect social-emotional learning tool for parents and educators to jump-start conversations about masculinity with the boys in their lives.

WARNING: THIS MIGHT BE THE MOST HONEST BOOK YOU’VE EVER LISTENED TO

Have you ever noticed that there are unwritten rules that tell boys how to act, think, and feel? Nobody knows where they came from, but one day—BAM!—you suddenly feel these invisible forces, pushing you to follow the rules of masculinity, even if they don’t make you happy.

This book isn’t about learning the rules of the boys’ club, it’s about UNLEARNING them. It’s a get-real guidebook that will show you how to be:

  • Brave enough to reveal who you really are
  • Smart enough to ask questions
  • Cool enough to feel all your emotions
  • Confident enough to know your worth
  • Strong enough to speak your truth

—and much, much more.

Be prepared: This book is raw and surprising. There is no subject off-limits or lies detected. Sometimes things might get a little uncomfortable, but that’s an important part of getting to know—and believe in—yourself.

Don’t worry, you're not on this journey alone, so let’s jump in together to become the smartest, bravest, strongest HUMANS we can be!

Incredibly important book for gen z

Wonderful. My boys and I listen to it all the time. In the car and in the house. I wonder if Justin Baldoni knows he’s a Marxist 🥰☮️✌️ The next generation of boys may still be dealing with the generations of mistreatment of women…I guess we’re watching generational trauma play out live with our own sons…

What a drag capitalism is… That’s the thing with starting to deconstruct all the systems we are forced to live under and have no say in. All roads lead to the bourgeoisie war against the working class. Funny how history continues to repeat itself, isn’t it 🤡

An invitation to young boys to be themselves!!!

Justin reads this book with the same passion he has for helping our boys (and men) to undefine masculinity and be their authentic selves; embracing ALL human emotions and not being afraid to show them. Definitely something to be shared with the young boys in your life.

Boys will be human!! Awesome!

I love how Justin opens up to everyone just like in Man Enough. As much as reading a book is great, I think Justin’s audiobooks make his books even better. You get to hear a little side commentary that just brings home the points of the book. Amazing as always!

Boys and men of all ages should read/listen to this book!

Man Enough but tailored to Tween and Teen boys

This book is a spin off of “Man Enough” which Baldoni also authored. A lot of the material and stories are repeated but catered to a younger audience. Overall a great book for boys and young men - just wish Baldoni would have put a greater emphasis on certain topics like p*rn use and tried to discourage boys more from using it in the first place versus just sharing his own personal story with it (and leaving out where he is today with that addiction). He’s careful not to tell the reader what to do or think, but I think as adults we need to emphasize how destructive some things really can be to our youth - especially young boys. Overall I believe Justin Baldoni is doing great things for boys and men right now - my hope is that he can start to dial in on the prevention of certain behaviors and addictions from developing in the first place, along with share updates on his own personal journey and recovery.

A perfect book for all young men over 10

It’s always great to hear the authors portrayal, especially when he can speak so fluently about his past as a child who is turning himself into a man. Some Teen boys these days seem to need more of an outsiders view. They’re embarrassed by their parents, go figure. But it’s a milestone leading them toward independence. We want to guide them into fine gentlemen. That takes much rumination. Not easy in this ‘Boys will be Boys’ attitude that dominates the media and technology. Worthy of your sons attention. Enjoy!

Excellent Read for Parents and Boys!

First off, Justin did an incredible job with his narration. I felt like I was listening to a good friend.

Secondly, although I didn’t always agree with some of the more specific opinions Justin shared, I was always able to identify a deeper, more general message that I wholeheartedly agreed with. These general messages are SO important for boys to understand.

I do recommend parents listen to/read this before sharing it with children so they can be aware of any subject matter that might not be appropriate for their child at that point in time.

Couldn't be better

This book was everything I hoped it would be. I listened to it since I purchased the hard copy for my teen boys and I got a lot out of it myself. The way Justin described white privilege made it finally click to me! Thank you so much to the author and keep doing what you're doing!
