About this listen

Welcome to the Royal Rider Military Academy, where only the ruthless survive.

Twenty-year-old Ainsley No-Name is nothing. She’s less than nothing. Just another faceless orphan stealing to feed her foster brothers and sisters. When three men snatch her off the street and drag her into the woods, she knows it’s the end.

Until she came.

Scales the color of flame and brimstone, a dragon drops out of the sky and saves her. With that, the sacred bond between rider and dragon is formed……and her execution is set in stone.

In Adalinda, there is one law held above all else. Any peasant who bonds with a dragon will be put to death.

Left with no choice, Ainsley claims the only royal line that can’t be traced. The Royal House of Boreen, daughter of the missing Queen Kisandra, and heir to the throne of Adalinda.

A simple plot to keep her life and her dragon becomes anything but. The powers behind the throne will not bow down to a mysterious waif who appeared out of nowhere, and his name is Dominic Roark.

Handsome, powerful, infuriating, teasing Dominic wants her dead. He wants the dragon she stole from him. He wants the throne she claimed as her birthright.

Their enemies are getting stronger, bolder, and closer. With each strike from the shadows, they're bringing Adalinda to the brink of a war the kingdom won't survive.

But Dominic... his war is with her.

Broken Wings is the first book of the Broken Legacy series. This M/F fantasy romance has dragons, enemies that become lovers, and orphan thieves who become so much more.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with yet another dragon rider book. This book kept me guessing what was going to happen next. I could not figure out what was happening and was angry, surprised, upset, and happy. I have laughed and cried. This was an EXCELLENT read - and Jessica was a great narrator. Cannot wait to start book 2!

Read this because I needed something to fill the void after reading Onyx Storm in the Forth Wing series. I wanted that dragon rider fantasy again and this seemed promising.

I was initially hooked from the beginning of the story. It had a great premise and set itself up to have really good archs. However, halfway through I began to feel as if the story became a bit stagnant. We were still progressing but it seemed like fairly long chapters with not enough payout in them.

There were quite a bit expedition dumps with pivotal information that I felt could’ve been delivered better. For instance, the information on her origin was just given to us in a random conversation and that was a HUGE deal to the overall plot of the story.

Overall the problems I had with the book were fairly minor. The last few chapters REALLY made up for some of the lulls and the several twists had me on the edge of my seat until the very last word.

Great Job R.A. Vincent! Looking forward to book 2!

A slow building roller coaster that pays off with an incredible Drop!

The story line was good, but got very X rated during some parts of the book. Didn’t think it would be as explicit as it was.

Overall it was good

This came up as a recommended series. This is the first time I’ve listened to this author. Loved the main characters, loved the banter. I found some of the magic “rules” a little confusing, but definitely looking forward to the next book!

I love the story line but had a hard time with the MC through most of the book. She was very whiny and childish. However, I have hopes that there will be some maturity gained in the second book. To be fair, it could also have been the narrator making the MC sound whinier than meant by the author. Still looking forward to the next book!

Overall pretty good
