About this listen

What would you do if no-one was watching?

Rachel is afraid she may have done something terrible. She's sitting in a room, being asked whether she killed someone.

She doesn't understand how her life has changed so completely. When she was younger, heads would turn when she walked into a room. Her children needed her; her husband adored her.

But somehow the years wore that all away. She was so busy raising her children, looking after her parents.... She can barely remember the woman she used to be, the one whose husband told her she was out of his league. The woman she is now just does the laundry and makes the dinner, and can walk into a room without anyone knowing she's there.

She knows that she hated feeling invisible. She knows that she thought: what would it take for you to see me again? What if I did something no one thought I was capable of?

Can You See Her? is an utterly compelling and unputdownable psychological thriller, about how far you can push a woman before she will break. Perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn, A.J. Finn and The Silent Patient.

This is so close to a perfect audio book that in order to write an appropriate review of the invisible psychiatric patient, it might be best to express my own view with some unseeable words which will keep me from accidentally revealing spoilers, ok?

First of all, the author is brilliant to hold my attention so well by …. …. …. …. (keep scrolling your vision) …. …. …. ….………….. The plot enthralled me with building suspense until ……………. …. …. …. …. …. …. ….Aaaah! Then the doctor (forensic psychiatrist Amanda Frost) spoke up: a lot. Interrogated even. …. …. …. …. I did not want this book to end because I liked the dear protagonist so much since …. …. …. …. …. …. Oh wait, suddenly I got goosebumps from …. …. more goosebumps…. ..!!!

TWIST, omg! …..….…. Did I correctly foresee the book’s ending? Hell NO, I am not as clever as S.E. Lynes and by the way, Tamsin Kennard did a fantastic job at close-to-perfection narration! Conclusion? WHAT A BOOK!!! Kindly do yourself a favour and buy it. (P.S. What a magnificent astonishing book!)

This book really hit home because I am directly in the throws of menopause! I think for the majority of women, housewives & mothers especially will relate to this book ... well not the stabbing parts, hopefully! Anyhow, this book had it all! Thriller, sadness, angry...I know I experienced all my feels!!! Give it go, you won't be sorry! HOLY COW THE EPILOGUE WAS SO DARN GOOD!

Damn this good!

This story is quite relatable if you are a middle-aged woman! All angles from all of the characters are plausible. It has made me wonder why I don’t just speak up or ask questions in my relationships instead of thinking I know what THEY are thinking. I will recommend it to my book club!

Relatable

This had so many twists and turns. The beginning was little flat, but KEEP READING!!

WOW

Pretty intense to think what psychosis does to a person but horrible how evil someone else can be to use it against them!

Suspense

Sad but suspenseful! I love books that keep you guessing and this did not disappoint in anyway. I’ll check out more of this author’s books!

I love this narrator! Could not stop listening! Great ending . The author never disappoints. The characters are so engaging and the story kept me wondering wear it would end.

So good!

I like that this was told from the perspective of the therapy sessions and police interviews. I guessed part of the ending about halfway through, but there were still a few twists I didn't see coming that I actually gasped at. The ending had me in tears, and I really related to the main character in a lot of ways. I listened at 1.5x speed and finished in one evening because I couldn't wait to see what happened. Still processing and feeling the feels from this roller coaster!

Kept Me On The Edge Of My Seat

However, it was a fun escapist story . It was a bit heavyhanded with the poor misunderstood underappreciated menopausal woman.

Fairly Predictable
