Publisher's summary

Veterinarian Matty Connors' visions lead her to homicide detective Brian Sullivan once again, despite her resolve to remain anonymous the past four years. Her official work with the police in California resulted in the brutal murder of her fiancé and, since, a recurrent nightmare she barely survives.

Brian, the reputed ladies man of the Sullivan family, has yet to give his heart to a woman until Matty lays claim to it. His black-and-white approach to solving crimes doesn't jibe with Matty's spooky pronouncements or her reputation for alleged infallibility. A wild goose chase searching for a murder weapon casts doubt on Matty's "truths" and threatens their smoldering romance.

Is Brian her nightmare slayer and ultimate truth? When the puzzle pieces fall in place for Brian, will it be too late to save Matty?

Loved this!

Fantastic listen with great characters and plenty of twists that kept me hooked. Loved this story and will have to look into other books in this series. Fantastic narrator, he brought the characters to life with his use of emotion and unique voices for each character. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Complete Package

Usually I dislike coming into a series where it isn’t the first book. Not with Capturing Karma! Ms Daughters seamlessly allowed me into The Sullivan Family.
The story is compelling from the first paragraph. I appreciated the humor that was woven in with the romance and the suspense.
Kudos to Ted Brooks as the narrator. I knew by the change in pitch and tone whose character was being featured.
I highly recommend this book, this author and the narrator. I will be buying more of The Sullivan Boys and K.M. Daughters.

Would recommend this book to friends.

What did you love best about Capturing Karma?

I like the big rowdy Sullivan family. I could almost picture them.

What other book might you compare Capturing Karma to and why?

I'm not sure I can compare it to anything I've read. Would I compare it to another crime drama, psychic involvement, twisted plot? Just don't know.

Did Ted Brooks do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

At first, I wasn't sure a male narrator was the right choice. But, when I realized it was pretty much a male driven story, I realize a female reader would not have worked as well. There were a couple of times when character differentiation was garbled, but over all he read well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It made me cry. The raw emotion in the scene on the bridge when Brian found Maddie was so tender and his deep seated fear as he waited in the hospital brought tears to my eyes. They touched each other on so many levels, I couldn't imagine them being apart.

Any additional comments?

There were a few places where editing could have been a little bit tighter.

Brian is Matty's Nightmare Slayer

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! Capturing Karma had the right balance of the two tensions: sexual and dangerous. While there is a lot of humor and familial warmth in this book, they are part of the frame for the story and don't interfere with the rising tension. The characters are multi-faceted. We learn interesting details as the characters react to their surroundings and circumstances. The Sullivan family, comprised of gorgeous men and talented women, is a family you want to spend time with again and again. I read series to spend time with the people in them

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Matty a great deal. She balances intellect with emotion. She's a vet and shows openness and affection for animals and strong, committed love for humans. Yet she is also wounded and her gift--her "truths"--can't be ignored despite the pain they cause her. She wants justice yet is humane and caring. She's someone you'll want to spend time with. Yeah, yeah, Brian IS gorgeous, but as a woman I want to identify with and care about the heroine.

Have you listened to any of Ted Brooks’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not to my knowledge.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Can a black-and-white, just-the-facts-ma'am police detective find love with a psychic whose visions don't provide who, what, when, where, and why?

Any additional comments?

As with all good mysteries, everything you need to solve it is given to you in this book. For me, part of the joy is getting to the end, looking back, and thinking "Of course!"

Captivating!

This book is captivating from beginning to end; I couldn't put it down until I finished it. There is a good blend of romance & suspense with unforgettable characters you can't help but fall in love with. Matty Connors literally “runs into “ homicide police detective Brian Sullivan while he is on his way to his brother’s wedding and their lives become intertwined. I loved the build up of the relationship between Matty and Brian, even with the doubts Brian had of Matty’s abilities. The suspense was tense and we didn’t find out near the end who the murderer was. It was fun having the Sullivan family involved in the storyline as well and getting to know them better. Ted Brooks once again brings all the characters to life and makes listening an enjoyable experience. I enjoyed this book tremendously and would give it more than five stars if I could. I did receive this audiobook for free and am providing an unbiased review.

Loved This

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, via Audiobook Boom, and have voluntarily left this review."

I loved Maddie and Brian's story. The narration was perfect. The details of how they came to be a couple had me laughing and smiling in several spots. Loved the family dynamics of the entire Sullivan clan. I don't remember reading any of the other books in this series but I would recommend it to anyone.

A psychic thriller, with some romance woven in

What did you love best about Capturing Karma?

Finally, something different in a romantic thriller! The heroine, Matty Connors receives unwanted psychic messages (what she calls her "truths") from a missing and assumed dead young man. Because Matty is a stand-up gal, she reports these to the police - some of whom, including her love interest Brian - don't believe in her abilities. Matty and Brian begin working together to solve the crime, and eventually, give in to their mutual attraction.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Capturing Karma?

The ending twist is not one that I expected, and I don't want to give it away. But it was definitely a surprise.

What three words best describe Ted Brooks’s voice?

Older voice, rapid.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I shouted "OMG!" at the plot twist, and made my dog bark. As a vet, I think that Matty would have appreciated that.

Any additional comments?

This book was part of a series but could be read as a stand-alone, because the author did a great job with world building and character descriptions.

Loved it!!

I listened to this from beginning to end. I liked the Sullivan family, I thought they were great and I could actually imagine them when they got together. However, Brain Sullivan I did not really like, there were times I felt like slapping him.

The narrator, I thought he did a great job in voicing the characters and I wouldn't mind listening to his other works.
