I could do that!

I’m working my way towards starting Couch to 5K again. I’ve done it successfully a few times over the past 10 years but never stuck with it for long after completing the program. Now over 60, I am very aware that achieving and maintaining fitness is going to be more of a challenge. I’ll never be an ultra-marathon runner like many of the people in this book (nor would I ever want to be), but these stories had me considering a 10K or 1/2 marathon and thinking, “Yeah, I could do that!” The male narrator’s whiny delivery was annoying, but I still found the overall book inspiring.

Not Bad

Overall the book wasn't bad, but some of the stories were too sappy for my taste. At the same time, there were some very inspiring stories too.

An engaging group of stories

It has been a while since I read a Chicken Soup for the Soul book and I forgot how laced in Christianity they can be. It's not bad, just intense when in audio form and especially grouped together. I really liked the layout of this book in loose themes of family/travel/perseverance/endurance/community. Personally I liked that while some were about NYC, there were a LOT of marathons and ultras focused, with a special focus on Boston and resilience when this book was being collected. A good listen for while on a run.
