Story
Caroline Clapham isn’t a world renowned artist—she’s simply a farmer’s daughter possessed of natural talent with a paintbrush. Talent that her mentor, the Countess of Inglewood, is happy to foster for a summer at her beautiful seaside estate. Caroline wants to see the world and commit its beauties to canvas, but she fears that the season will end and she will return home as insignificant as ever. The lure of an adventure and the enchanting Inglewood estate keep her dreams alive, but when she meets Edward Everly and agrees to fake a courtship with him, those dreams begin to change.

But when the Will is read, Adam learns most of the wealth has been left to a complete stranger, and a seamstress at that. If he hopes to salvage any kind of funds for himself, he has two choices: adhere to his late uncle’s wishes and assist the new heiress in finding her way, or sabotage her so the courts will find her unfit to inherit. In the eyes of London Society, Gillian Phelps is suitable enough. Though the ton whispers about her change of residence, any speculation remains just that: ballroom gossip. No one—not even the other Huntresses, the group of ladies she calls her dearest friends—knows that she is harboring a devastating family secret. Gillian has become adept at hiding the reality of her circumstances, but the close quarters of a house party will test her ability to conceal the crushing truth. And with so many people to deceive, the late arrival of another guest is a most unwelcome surprise.

A Mixed Bag
The first story was charming although not one of Sally Britton’s best to me. She did make me want to be a part of the family’s festivities, though.
The second story was a clever “retelling” of A Christmas Carol and it was fun listening for the Easter eggs.
The third story was entirely forgettable and I found that I did not care what happened to the main characters by mid-way through.
The fourth story was very cute. It was easily my favorite. The characters had great banter and it was enjoyable to see their development.

Lovely and heart wrenching
It’s hard to review all the stories in 1 review. Some better than others, but each brings painful backgrounds to the forefront in ways that makes the characters so relatable.
