Former CIA operative Damon Thorne is a fixer. He cleans up messes other people make of their lives to forget the wreckage his own has become. Whether it means retrieving a drug addict whose family is being blackmailed or rescuing a furball who’s the subject of a custody dispute, Damon just gets things done.
When the job means kidnapping the wild son of a prominent senator in an election year, it should come with hazard pay.
From the day Jude Chenoweth was born into wealth and position, his father has groomed him to follow in his footsteps. Jude has other plans. Openly gay and infamous, all he wants to do is live his life, create his art, and never settle down.
Life has a way of kicking butts, even the sexy ones. Thrown together in a situation neither wanted, Damon and Jude must now decide how to move forward. Jude knows something is wrong when he gazes into Damon’s haunted brown eyes and Damon recognizes there’s much more to Jude than the caricature he shows the world.
This might be the beginning of a journey...or an incredibly stupid mistake. Perhaps working together will help them process their own demons. Whatever happens, neither of them believes Damon’s assignments will always come with a heaping helping of bad guys.
Not always...right?

Ms Logan knows how to tell a story filled with action, suspense, lovable characters with flaws and history, and let’s not forget that she writes the hottest sex scenes as well.
This new series is up to par. I love Damon and Jude. They remind me of Jarrett and Thayne, in a way, because of their chemistry that’s so palpable. I also love that there’s no unnecessary push and pull between two MCs. Once they’ve decided they’re in, they’re all in. It’s refreshing to read that kind of romance. The supporting characters are also lovable, Ms Logan has always written them in such way.
The action scenes in this book are pretty cool, what’s cooler was the spy information that’s also presented. I always learn something new with I read a Patricia Logan novel.
I also firmly believe that it should only be Michael Dean that should and could narrate her books. Because why mess with perfection, right?
Another 5-star Hit!

Looking forward to book two, awaiting to see how our spicy couple bring it all together..., in & out of the smokin' sheets. Never a boring lull, and the emerging personas/locales are always relevant, adding depth to the unfolding plot. So very well written; I enjoy how well she blends people and places as she continues, creating a rich & varied cast that spans much of her history.
Another Enjoyable Sexy Romp...., Who Knew???

This was a relatively fast paced listen and I absolutely had a blast listening to this.
The characters were likeable, relatable and well fleshed out.
The storyline was compelling and gripping and I found myself inmersed in the story from the very beginning.
The narration was enjoyable and absolutely fantastic.
Michael Dean really brings the characters to life with his amazing audio delivery and narration.
A fast paced opposites attract!

It’s odd that near loner, super stealth spy lets his hostage of 2 days read his super secret files, then takes him on a mission. Even if that were ok, the timeline is at odds with the emotional pacing. It’s ok to have a quick connection, but using phrases like “ever since he’d met him, he was feeling [long term effect]” when “ever since” was 36 hours ago. Then saying “you haven’t seen the dark side of my work” to someone who had just seen the dark side of his work was a weird choice.
I’m also not a superfan of one person giving up their professional goals a week after meeting a new love interest. It just isn’t reasonable. It wouldn’t have been as annoying if the couple had discussed the larger man altering or giving up his profession instead to make things work. When Jude lists all the things he covets about Damon’s job -problem solving, new for every client- those *also describe his own job*!!!! Make it make sense.
It didn’t make much sense, but the characters seemed to mean well and stuff happened to hold my interest. There were too many record scratch type disconnects for me to want to continue the series, including the teaser chapter where, during a rescue, they stand around taking their sweet time rather than getting out of firing range.
Steam: Med-low. M/M sexytimes on page a few times.
Narration: Distracted by Ford “Taurus” sounding like /touris(t)/. (The car gets mentioned way too often.) Not as annoyed by /Se-pul-VEH-da/ since that’s how I pronounced /se-PUL-ve-da/ when I moved to SoCal. There were some other odd slip ups, like Bread & Breakfast, that are unusual to get from such a prolific narrator. The voicing choices were ok.
Ok if not analyzed
