About this listen

My name is Mac Brennan, and that's the only thing I can remember about myself. Not why I woke up in a dumpster. Not why my right arm is as black as pitch and covered in glowing red tattoos, and certainly not why a vicious death cult is after me.

Actually, that last part isn't true. I know why the death cult is after me. It's because I saved that damned girl from them. I didn't know who she was at the time, but I'd have done it anyway. I just don't like it when girls get beat up; call me old fashioned. Still, I can tell she's hiding something behind those devilish eyes, and if I want to find out what it is, I'll have to help her.

My name is Mac Brennan. I have no memory, and I'm a werewolf-hunting, hellfire-flinging version of Faust himself.

The dialogue and narrator! character building was excellent and distinctive!

Talk about immersive experience! This one read like a movie in my mind and I loved it. My tv was off, and I went about my day listening to this "movie" , fully invested in the story from the beginning to end! Mr. Cipriano had a new fan! I HIGHLY recommend! cheers

A big MAC attack

Cipriano is very quickly becoming a favorite author. I honestly cannot think of anything of his I haven't enjoyed to the Nth power. His writing is quick, witty, and chock full of action. Sometimes it is epic and other times personal and intimate, but it is always entertaining.

Cursed starts off like a few other great books like Sandman Slim, Walking Dead, and Dead Man all begin with the MC waking up dazed, and in a world full of crap. So, you get thrown in the blender right away. And let me say that when the crap starts flying you won't be able to find a big enough rain suit.

Mac fits in well with the other Urban Fantasy heroes like Sandman Slim, Harry Dresden, and Nate Temple. He wakes up with no memory and the action just flows from there. I have to say that I always enjoy J.A.'s secondary characters, and his villains never fail to capture your attention. This is a great start for a new series, and I cannot wait to see how the next book goes.

One thing I really enjoyed was the way in which Mac has to discover who he is, and the kind of person that he was, and who he wants to be. Cronin narrates well, and takes us on an exploratory journey along side Mac. He does the voices and expertly and paces the action like a race car. Even though I did receive a promo code for this review it in no way influenced my considerations of the material, and in fact, inspired me to be more honest. In fact, getting a code generally makes me harsher as a reviewer as I am more often concerned what someone like Me will decide based on my review.

f you like the Dresden Files you will like this

Good story, great narrator. It is a lot like Dresden, the Iron Druid and the Demon accord series. Te only downside is that it is a little short in length.

EXCELLENT SERIES

Enjoyable. J. A Cipriano is indeed a good writer. Very interesting. Even though it was written in the first person which I don't normally like the story flows smoothly and was well performed by James Patrick Cronin. I note that there are two more books already out and I will be following the series. Well done to both J A Cipriano and James P Cornin.

A short but entertaining start to a series

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

So, I will preface my review with one thought. I make a point, when starting a new series, to enjoy it for what it is, and try not to expect it to be something it is not. That being said, here is my actual review...

As with several of J.A. Cipriano's series, they have good dialog and loads of sarcasm and wit. This one is no exception. I thought the characters were interesting, though I would have liked a bit more character development for Mac. This book seems to be intended as a light, action packed romp through a world full of the supernatural. It was fun, and highly entertaining. I'll definitely move on to the next in the series.

Demons & a vampire & shifters, OH MY!

Scary good and full of action, adventure, suspense, but I am beginning to loathe Cipriano. I keep finding more of his stuff that I just have to read! At least I was lucky enough to get the audio on sale this time! But the rest of you don't need audio to appreciate the snarkiness. Or the personalities. OR the situations! See publisher's blurb for plot clues, but, really, just stick your nose in the pages and get carried away.
Audio performer Cronin really captured the essence of Mac!

pretty good

good storyline but the author apparently either doesn't realize that women can't compete physically with men because ...science....or just chose to exaggerate this aspect as well because it is fiction after all..... Regardless, I found it to be enjoyable albeit annoying in places.

Worthy of the credit

Amnesia is not an original plot. A man with magical abilities waking in a dumpster with amnesia is not original. Dead Man, by Dimino Finn has the same opening. A man being a hero saving a female in distress is not original. This story is told with the action and paranormal creatures. It is written well enough and it is entertaining. Points were deduct because it does end in a cliff hanger and the lack or originality. But it is interesting enough that I will get the next book.

The Michael bay of novel writing

The book is nonstop action as it goes from one fight scene to the next. The main character has amnesia so there’s not much character development. The whole book is about him rescuing a woman that he just met and has no connection with.

Also every literary cliche is used throughout this book. I had bought the second book by mistake so I got this one to read first. I hope the next one is better.
