Honest review

So, I bought this book after observing this significant changes in my son's teacher. When I inquired, she told me that her journey began when she was introduced to this book. I thought what harm could it do. I purchased this book for myself and I must say I couldn't be happier. I have read quite a few books and compulsive emotional eating however this one is by far my favorite. Highly recommend for anyone struggling

Good writing and good narration

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook and doing the exercises that came with it. The breathing exercises were especially helpful. I learned a lot!

Decent Advice for Healthy Eating

This is another application of Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) applied to counter emotional eating and the associated health issues. DBT is adapted from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) that has been found useful in treating emotion based behaviors through talking … with the dialectic presumably using opposing ideas. In that respect, it was not obvious to me how this fits in the DBT treatment arena. Like the previous book, Huang combines personal anecdotes to illustrate the concepts presented in the book, which, while helpful, don’t seem to be that revolutionary or particularly surprising. However, this was good advice and well organized, with an accompanying pdf to help put these ideas into practice. The narration was good for the material as presented and was easy to listen to and stay focused, but was not exceptional.

Excellent source of information!

I never noticed that i too had struggled with emotional eating until this book. Barrett did an excellent job breaking it down for me in such a way where I can now use the tools he has given to make better decisions where food is concerned.

Solid advice

This audiobook is well narrated and has lots of good information about how we get into emotional eating habits, trying to change how we feel with food. It delves into some root causes and where this initiates from. I did find quite a lot of this common sense and what to me is fairly obvious information, however that might be a little harsh when I guess all corners need to be covered. Nevertheless, this audiobook does gradually guide you into getting deeply honest with yourself and identifying and changing those patterns of feeling bad and using food as a weapon.
