What’s scarier than hunting demons?

Being bonded to one of them.

Ever since I got involved with the demons, my life has fallen apart.

Now, I’m persona non grata with the mage council. And because of me, my sister is in danger. If that wasn’t bad enough, I’m suddenly responsible for protecting two gnome kids.

But it gets worse. I’m learning that everything I thought I knew about myself was a lie. And the underhanded demon who bonded with me? Well, he’s convinced he can keep me.

When ancient fae artifacts start going missing, I have to use every trick up my sleeve to locate them. Someone wants to watch the world burn, and if I don’t stop them, every paranormal alive is a target.

Armed with a power I don’t understand, and with a demon I don’t trust by my side, it’s up to me to dodge the people who want me dead and protect my city.

Before Samael loses patience with whoever is hunting me and burns Durham down himself.

I really like this series!

I just finished listening to book 2. I am now obsessed and will be working on the rest of the series. It reminds me of Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series when they were still good. They also kind of have a JD Rob in Death Series Vibe. They definitely have my attention. I will be checking out any other books this Author has outside this series. she has a new Fan.

Things are getting interesting.....

4.25 Stars 🌟

Now things are getting interesting. We are beginning to get some back story on Danica and discover what happened all those years ago with her mother and her sister and how it impacted Danica's relationship with the witches. In other words, she hates them. It's unfortunate that her sister Evie happens to be one and lives in the Coven House with them. Ruh- Row......

Then there is the whole thing with Samael. There is definite tension building between the two and as much as I want to not like Samael, I'm finding that hard to do. Yes, he is powerful and apparently very scary, but with Danica, we see a softer side and we see that there just might be some ulterior motives underneath his actions. Unfortunately, Danica does not see any of this. Is her behavior a bit annoying? Yep, it is, but I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt for now.

I'm liking where this is going, the story line is interesting and compelling and the new characters that we are getting to meet are fun and all so very unique. I mean come on, she finds Samel babysitting two small gnome kids...tell me that's not cute? And Vas....I'm really liking him as a sidekick.

Off to book 3.....

fun series, Good plot

I am really enjoying the series. This isn't a super steamy romance that leaves you drooling for the man, but it is a fun story with lots of action.
I have been entertained the entire time and excited to see what happens next. I think the narrator did a great job. If I had a complaint it would be that the main character is too belligerent, etc. which is a common issue in these books. Having said that, it has been a great new series for me with a full cast and interesting world. Definitely worth a try.

Can't get enough!

Danica's adventures continue as Samael navigates how to be the possessive alpha he is with the needs of his mate. The intricate weaving of the stories and side characters is superb. Listened to it in a day and couldn't stop!
Amanda Leigh Cobb is the perfect Danica. I read this at 1.4 speed.

Good Enough

So I agree that to have insta love in a story is boring and a build up is good, but seriously it better be monumental at this rate. I’m honestly annoyed with Danika and her judge mental attitude and wish someone would tell her this already. I hope she has to grovel a lot and I’m not saying Samaiel is completely innocent, but he’s never given her a reason to be so harsh towards him and she would rather let her hate and anger rule her, then taking a closer look at what’s underneath the surface. I hope the next book has some improvement cause if not, I don’t think I’ll continue.

Emotionally Damaged. In a good way

This one had my emotions in a choke hold. This book pick up after the end of the last one with Danika dealing with the fallout of the choice she made between helping Samael or letting the coven kill him. half the city sees her as a traitor (including the mage guild) and the other half seeing she definitely made the right choice. no one would want power filled witch coven on the loose. She's also struggling with keeping her powers under control now that she cracked the seal on her magic.

This book picks up in action pretty quick. her shop friend Marty is attacked after she was seen talking to him and a bunch of random Fae artifacts goes missing and she is hired to find and return them.

There is a lot going on in this book but i don't think it was over whelming. it flowed nicely. we see a lot of growth in Danika's and Samael's relationship and a lot of protectiveness and possessiveness. We also see a lot more of Evie (Danika's sister) in this book. we see them start to regrow their relationship ( i still don't understand why Evie was so mad at Danika. they were just kids)

Danika is becoming a power house. Not just in magic though. she's making all kinds of allies. she's got a black witch (who has helped her numerous times) a white witch who is helping her with the influx of magic. Fae friends. helping Alpha Werewolf's with cases, she's known to see the Lesser Fae(even when their monarchies over look them), she's getting more and more demon friends and even still has a few friends with in the Mage Guild.

Over all i really enjoyed this book and I'm loving the series. I'm a big fan of Stacia Stark and cant wait to continue the series.

The second book is great. I’m glad they arnt just putting the two main characters together right away. I like how there is a give and take. Great series. I wish it was a little funnier but it’s ok!
