About this listen

Time is running out....

After defeating the uprising, and becoming infected with a dose of Plush, Holly is in a race to help a seeker before it's too late. Going South is the only option. But getting there is going to prove difficult, which is why Lockland has entrusted Daze with a secret weapon.

A pulse storm, overzealous militia, and uncooperative siblings are only a few of the obstacles standing in their way. Once they arrive on the coast, the prospect of finding the supplies they need dwindles. But what they uncover may be far richer. A way to move the remaining survivors forward.

But the people of the town don't see it that way. They want to protect what's theirs. With the militia closing in, they do the only thing they have left to do, fight.

World building expanded

Carlson expanded the world building of this series by taking Holly, Daze and Case out of the city on the hunt for a cure for Plush. In doing so new characters where introduced and new evil baddies cropped up. The city is dangerous but outside is a deadly wasteland. I have really enjoyed this series and with this latest book Carlson has cemented Holly, Case and Daze as a ‘family’ unit. Added to this is an AI named Mazzy, which opened up the pre dystopian world to the reader.

Amazing yet again!

I absolutely love this book series! Catastrophe events have ruined the world but Holly and crew still hope and fight for the future of the human race. The narrorator does a fantastic job!

Left at the Door Review by Liadan of Danger's Race

The third book in the Holly Danger series can only be described as fantastic. The world building and character building are superbly done, and Amanda's descriptions leave little to the imagination as to what is going on. Holly, Daze, and Case head south to where Case grew up to find out more about where Tandor came from. There is less action and more exploration of post-apocalyptic earth. Great book and can't wait to see what they find in book 4.

The story continues

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. I really liked books 1 and 2, and 3 wasn't too bad. I thought it drug on in a few places, but the overall was really enjoyable. It mostly kept my interest, however, I could put it down a couple of times. Maybe I was just impatient. I'm usually not a fan of dystopia, but I liked this book. Always a fan of a strong female with an equally strong male. No romance here, but I can see it possibly coming at some point. The narrator did great, but because of the genre, she has a very bland voice. She does a great job of separating each of the characters and capturing their personalities.

A real relay race for life

Carlson wastes no time in getting right into the action; book 3 picks up right where the last one left off. The group splits up in order to get what they need to create the cure for the nefarious drug known as Plush. One of the things I like about Carlson is that she doesn't waste 6 to 10 pages recapping events like most books and tv shows do. She lets the previous books take care of business on their own.

The world and cast of characters continues to grow, just as the danger continues to escalate. We see a lot of growth in the characters we've come to know and love. Daze continues to be a great character, and Daze begins to open up more and more, so we are getting to know everyone better. Carlson continues to improve her style a well. This is a fun fast paced slice of tasty action that makes James Bond look like a blind geriatric quadraplegic with Alzheimers disease.

Wilder, does that name fit these books or what, continues to make the danger seem real, and the action happen like ten tons of C-4 going off in a submarine. She is just amazing, and you can tell she really enjoys the Danger books.

This is a great series, once you start it you get hooked and want to keep going.

The Third Exciting Installment!!!!!

Danger’s Race is the third exciting installment in Amanda Carlson’s sensational Holly Danger futuristic series! This book picks up right where the previous, Danger’s Vice, left off with Holly and her crew departing to forage for the ingredients required for a plush cure. Holly, Daze and Case head south to what was Florida tasked with finding a component harvested from the sea. Not surprisingly, they are met with danger galore from multiple sources including a brutal, power-hungry militia. The storyline grabs you from the first and doesn’t let go until the very end.

Holly and her take-no-prisoners attitude continue to rock! Daze is sweet and smart, maturing and learning from Holly. I’m feeling much better about Case and his mysterious past. He opens up much more in this book, seems less on edge and appears to be becoming a better partner to Holly. There’s not a romantic element in this series so far - but, I’m holding out hope that there may be one in the cards soon! The wonderful secondary supporting characters we are familiar with do not figure heavily in this installment. That said, we meet intriguing new characters who are likely to figure prominently in future episodes.

Amanda’s future world technology is an incredibly interesting component in this series. For instance, there’s a quirky artificial egg device that Daze is gifted with specifically for their trip south that comes in mighty handy while providing laugh-out-loud comic relief. I really hope to see more of ‘her’ down the line.

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from Danger’s Race:

“Males have superior brain recall and immune systems.”
---
“If you cooperate, we won’t hurt you. If you don’t, we will.”
---
“Holly shot her laser through this guy and smoked him a few days ago. Then, she gave another guy a radium ball and he started bleeding from the mouth and his skin started sliding off.”

Emma Wilder is the fantastic narrator for this series. If you are an audiophile as I am, treat yourself to the audio edition as Emma really makes it shine. She positively aces Holly. Her voice is crystal clear and perfectly paced. She consistently voices and distinctly interprets each character making it easy for listeners to know who is speaking at any time. She exudes all the proper emotions. The end product is polished and amazingly well done.

This is a series that should be read in order as Amanda doesn't waste any time recapping previous events and much has transpired already. I can’t imagine jumping into this series mid-way as each book has been fast-paced wall-to-wall action and each book’s characters and plot have built upon prior events. This is a fantastic series with extraordinary characterizations and you won’t regret starting from the beginning. Just do it.

While Holly, Daze and Case don’t find what they were seeking, they actually stumble upon something extremely valuable that holds even greater promise for the future! That’s good news, but it also heralds a whole new set of complications as Holly races to save humanity. I like that each installment in this series has a satisfying wrap-up even as Amanda is setting up the next book’s adventure. I’m really enjoying this series and can’t wait to see what unfolds in book #4, Danger’s Cure!

There’s a fine line between bad ass and bitch

Danger's Race: Holly Danger, Book 3

By: Amanda Carlson
Narrated by: Emma Wilder

There’s a fine line between bad ass and bitch and Holly is walking that line like a tightrope. Danger’s Race is book 3 in the Holly Danger Field and the series gets better with each book. The adventure continues with the action, suspense and drama, along with the bits of sarcasm and comedy Holly is now known for. Holly and the crew continue to fight for justice to save what little is left of their world while letting nothing stand between them.
The book is well written with awesome characters. I love Emma Wilder’s narration and appreciate that she was able to narrate the entire series.
Overall, this is a huge 4-star book for me.
