About this listen

4 Volumes for a single offering!

Aliens ripped a hole above Earth, arriving with a massive space station. I sorta figured we'd be enslaved to fight in their wars or exterminated for our resources. Nope. The hip-high Iglax were merchants with ugly squished faces and thick blue fur. While they weren't much to look at, they sure did have some wonderous technology.

Humanity bent over backwards to appease our new merchant overlords. The boorish aliens wanted cheap labor for precious metals, and honestly, I didn't blame anyone for their hunger to be among the stars.

For certain rare metals or special gems, they'd trade tech we could only fathom as magic. Me, I pawned a few things, made some money, then hunkered down to study to prove my worth.

The aliens tested humans on an individual basis for miner rentals. Do well on your pilot test, get a spaceship, sign up with a corp, and you can mine the belt. For a puddle-jumper pilot like me, yeah, I was so interested I became obsessed. When I finally tested, I performed above and beyond, being offered a contract for some better than a miner - Earth's First Starfighter.

The series got off to a little bit of a slow start, but it was worth it.

Any sci-fi fan will appreciate this series. There's enough twist and turns that is not classically predictable like so many others.
The characters are interesting. While they take a while to develop and the story does get off to a slow start in the first book the entire storyline builds and will draw your attention in. The voices of the narrators portray the characters very well and while it appears that the story does come to a conclusion after a book 4, I would be interested to see where they could take the storyline.

Awesome space opera.

Great action and characters. I'm only on book 2 and it's already worth the credit. The reading is also top notch.

Really great listen

I enjoyed this audiobook from start to end.
The only thing I would say is that the science needs to be a little more accurate as a sci-fi story. These little things are not negative to the story, but they did become a distraction for me.
Sound does not travel in space - hearing the whoomp of an explosion of an enemy ship in space
and in my basic understanding of space, an object will not slow down on its own accord.
I understand the authors have "poetic licence," but would that make it a fantasy?

But again thanks for a great story

Earth's First Starfighter

Very entertaining book, and a great distraction. I would hope there would be additional books on this universe.

Story. Narrator. no... NARATORS

I am not one to leave in-depth reviews, but this series kept me wrapped up in it. I was enthralled, captured, and reeling i listened with autistic levels of focus. I was sad it came to an end, but happy the ending did not disappoint. I will be listening to this again for sure! The writing was good for my barely collage level reading and the duet of narrators helped self all the characters with their wide range of voices.
