Publisher's summary

The perfect companion to the #1 New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series!

I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: Zero Hour is the fifth collection of action-packed novellas from Pittacus Lore. Initially published separately as digital originals, these three stories are now together in one volume.

Lost Files #13: Legacies Reborn gives a look at the Mogadorian invasion from the perspective of Daniela Morales, a human teen who’s shocked to discover aliens are attacking New York—and that she suddenly has the power to fight back.

Lost Files #14: Last Defense reveals what happens to Malcolm Goode after the warships descend. To get to the president’s secret bunker near Washington, DC, he’ll have to fight his way through a war zone.

Lost Files #15: Hunt for the Garde picks up after the events of The Fate of Ten, following the stories of three different Mogadorians. One will do anything for redemption. One has a thirst for blood. One questions everything.

You know about the invasion of Earth, and the Garde who will do anything to stop it. Yet there is still so much to learn. The stories in Zero Hour will help you get the answers you seek, but only the Garde and their allies can save our planet.

The I Am Number Four series is perfect for fans of science fiction adventures like the Fifth Wave series by Rick Yancey and the Beautiful Minds series by Alexandra Bracken.

Filler material only

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Maybe because of the familiarity I have for the main series book this one just doesn't have the pzazz of the main series. The chapter I liked best were the Mogs sent in to Chicago. The leader was looking for glory and it did not turn out so good.

Could you see I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: Zero Hour being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Actually the series aspect looks like a possibility. The Big screen movie and later books ad lots of character and plot lines so it could do okay.

Any additional comments?

I have started the new release United as One and I am enjoying it, I don't think a reader misses much if Zero Hours is skipped over.

A complimentary add to the main series

As I said before, this series is only for hardcore fans...and anyone who truly appreciates easter eggs and hidden references.

The other side of things

I would have to give this one a 3.5/5. It was a good addition to the Lost Files Series and does fill in the blanks between main publications for the most part, however the first 1/3 of the book was a repeat and I felt it did not progress the story. After that I always love hearing from our favourite father, Malcolm and it was also really interesting to see things from the other side (Mogs). One thing I like is that the author does touch on other places outside the USA which is refreshing. This is true throughout the entire series, main and in-between books. We do get a sense of what is to come in the finale, which I am excited to listen to. The narration was really good and I enjoyed the multi-cast narration. One thing I like throughout the whole series is how different narrators have different voices and interpretations of voices for that character. It really gives perspective. Looking forward to the finale and seeing what my boy BK is got in store.

More Short Stories - Some Great, Some Not

Zero Hour is the most recently published of The Lorien Legacies Lost Files series and covers stories taking place before and in parallel with "The Fate of Ten".

I have been making an effort to review these because I was a little lost when it came to figuring out what the Lost Files were, what stories were included, and whether they were worth listening to or not. Some of the stories in the Lost Files are amazing, and some of them are OK.

This book features three short stories, the first, a backstory about Daniela Morales didn't do much for me. The best part of the Lost Files stories is how they fill in areas not covered by the main series, but I didn't think this particular back story provided much that we didn't already know from the main series. I also have never found this character as interesting as many of the others are. (Like, where are my backstories on Nigel and Ran?)

The second story is the first ever we've gotten from the point of view of Malcolm Goode, and this one is really worth the listen. It is well written, has lots going on, and Malcolm has many years of missing back story that makes for interesting listening. This is a Malcolm who can't remember everything, putting together pieces of what happened in his past and better understanding what occurred while he was in captivity. It also covers some of his time as an adviser to the President and and some of the initial reactions to the first of the human Gardes. I enjoyed this one a lot, and would love to hear more of Malcolm's backstory.

The third story is really more of a third section with several stories from the point of view of different Mogadorians. I personally had a hard time getting into these. I may try another listen later, but I wasn't crazy about what I did listen to.

Overall, I've enjoyed the Lost Files books, this one, Zero Hour isn't one of the best, however if you are a big fan and really want a great story, the second one, "Last Defense" is really worth a listen.

Good luck and enjoy!
