About this listen

In his essay "Supernatural Horror in Literature", H.P. Lovecraft famously noted that "The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown."

Dark Hall Press is proud to present our Cosmic Horror Anthology, 10 tales of nameless terror from some of the most exciting voices in the field.

It's all here, from stories of subtle, invasive menace to tales of full-fledged cyclopean horrors; from alien worlds to the yawning holes in perception where strange forces lurk; where nature takes on a terrifying sentience and one is not safe even in dreams.

We at Dark Hall invite you to join us in celebration of the modern weird tale, to cast off the veil of reason and see the universe for what it truly is - frightening and uncontrollable.

Includes "The Yellow Dust" by Oliver Smith, "The Interview" by James Pratt, "The Unknown" by Tim Jeffreys, "Night Terrors" by Mike Pieloor, "The Eye of the Beholder" by Darin Kennedy, "Starstruck" by Shenoa Carroll-Bradd, "Godess of our Fathers" by Josh Strnad, "The Events of Frenchman's Creek" by DJ Tyrer, "The Ceiling with No Hook" by Johannes Pinter, "A Drawing of the Sky, a Song of Change" by Bear Weiter.

More Pleasant Surprises Than Not

As with most anthologies, collections, etc. there are the good, the bad, and the ugly. The final tale alone was worth the credit spent. I could say the same for the first. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Fun.

A good collection of lovecraftian tales. Well told shorts with a grim twist at the end. Wish there was more.

good cosmic horror compilation

the stories were mostly fantastic, and it had a good mix of different styles. the only drawback was that I wish it was longer.

Bottom of the barrel

The writing and narration were robotic at best. See Lovecraft's Monsters, Book of Cthulhu 1 and 2 for better Lovecraftian anthologies.
