Only a handful of people know that Nash is still alive - and fellow Troubleshooters Dave Malkoff, Sophia Ghaffari, and receptionist Tracy Shapiro aren't among them. Believing that Nash is dead and that Decker has begun a romantic relationship with Tess, Sophia settles for second best and begins a love affair with Dave, who has adored her for years. But Tracy puts two and two together, discovering the truth about Nash - much to Decker's dismay.
As passions flare, Decker struggles to keep his scheme afloat, and to keep Nash alive. But when he finds himself targeted for death, the game turns even more perilous, and Sophia, Tracy, and Dave are swept into the deadly play. Under fire and racing to unmask their relentless adversary, the Troubleshooters know that the closer they get, the greater the risks. But sacrifices and consequences come with the territory. Forced to choose between love and loyalty, they are no longer just solving a crime - they're fighting for survival.

I think Renee Laudmann has an irritating little-girl voice which spoils the story. I doubt I'll buy another audio book if she is the reader. I think I'd rather read it myself.
The story itself gets a five rating. The reader a zero.
Needs a better female reader.

What made the experience of listening to Dark of Night the most enjoyable?
I thought that I had purchased all of the Troubleshooters books when they were originally published. Imagine my surprise when I realized that I had missed "Dark of Night". All of the Reviews said this was Tess and Jimmie Nash's story. While it finishes Tess's and Nash's story, it is really Decker and Tracey's story. I considered it one of Brockman's best since it includes Sam & Alyssa, Jules & Robin, Dave & Sophia, Decker & Tracey, and Tess & Nash. I couldn't stop listening. What other book might you compare Dark of Night to and why?
If you like Suzanne Brockman's Troubleshooters books, you will love this.Have you listened to any of Patrick G. Lawlor and Renée Raudman ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Patrick Lawlor narrates most of the Troubleshooters books with a variety of female Narrators, and I enjoyed every narration. There are so many characters in all of Brockman's Troubleshooters books that many reviewers think he is boring. I disagree. I find his readings are very interesting without being too dramatic.Who was the most memorable character of Dark of Night and why?
Decker is the most memorable character since he is such a mystery in previous books.Any additional comments?
This book answers so many question left from previous books, I highly recommend "Dark of Night".Decker's Story

Where does Dark of Night rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It's a Brockmann. Beyond that, it's a Troubleshooters novel. Ergo, it's a keeper. However, as much as I loved the complexity of the plot, there was so much going on in this story that I think it took away from the romance. Other reviewers have said there was too much sex. Maybe, but I would suggest that it wasn't the quantity, but the quality of the sex--rushed, somewhat impersonal--that I found disappointing. This story wrapped up so many dangling plot ends that it really could have been two books. Not that I was sorry to have to spend only a limited amount of time with Sophia--I've never liked that character, and quite frankly think Dave could have done better! What was one of the most memorable moments of Dark of Night?
Tess finally giving Jimmy the business, and Jimmy finally coming clean. Love this couple, but she's needed to lay down the law since the end of Flashpoint. Dave being Dave--he's been one of my favorites since "Into The Storm", when we really got our first look inside his head. The scene with Tracy, Deck and the coffee mug was really cute too.Which character – as performed by Patrick G. Lawlor and Renée Raudman – was your favorite?
Ok, I've liked both of these narrators in other books, but PGL really got on my nerves during this reading. He made Tracy just a bit too strident--yes, she is a little over the top, I get that, but the way he did her voice set my teeth on edge. Even so, I've always sort of liked Tracy as a character, and this book made me like her even more, so I guess it wasn't that bad. He started laughing though--you can hear it if you listen closely--during the "sex in the office" scene. That was a major negative point for me,and ruined what might have been one of the pivotal scenes of the book, relationship-wise. Some other reviewers have really disliked RR, but I don't think she did a bad job. Her voice is definitely different from the woman who did the female narration in books 7-11, but I actually find it a bit more mellow, less snippy, which was a nice change.Great story...too busy to be romantic
