About this listen

A SERIAL KILLER ON A POISONOUS MISSION PUSHES NIKKI AND HER TEAM TO BREAKING POINT

Revellers are flocking into Greenborough for the yearly Dark Greenborough Festival, a three-day event celebrating local folklore, superstition, and the darker side of life.

What the public doesn't know is that there has been a warning sent to the police, saying that Greenborough will be a very dangerous place this year. The anonymous letter ends with the Latin phrase, Mors certa, hora incerta: Death is certain, the hour uncertain.

DI Nikki Galena and her team soon discover this is no hoax, as people start dying from what appears to be alcoholic poisoning. Things rapidly escalate, and as the deaths get more horrific, Nikki realizes they have a serial killer in their midst.

Another good one!

This is another well written Joy Ellis book! I did have a bit of a hard time keeping all of the characters straight, but eventually figured it out. The mystery continues all the way to the end!

Somewhat Intriguing Series

One can easily grow to know the characters in this series. At times the details can be somewhat graphic in the investigations and you may find them somewhat bizarre but the interpersonal stories are interesting. if you have these books included in your membership, check them out. I'm not sure I will pay for any addional books in the series.

An other great book by Joy Ellis :)

I'm glad I found the books by Joy Ellis! I found her series about Jackman and Evans first. It's still my favorite! I like Jackman and Evans a lot more as persons. It took a lot longer to make me feel like I knew Nikki and Joseph. I still don't really like Nikki even though I like the books.

The first ten books in this series are free on Audible. All 14 books about Nikki are free if you have Kindle unlimited. I really like when I can borrow both the audio book and Kindle book at the same time. Sometimes I read part of the story at other times I just use the Kindle book to look things up. It's nice to be able to search for a person and see what they said or did if I wasn't paying attention to someone who turns out to be important to the story.

Henrietta Meire have read these books on Audible and I think she's done a good job. I haven't been to this part of England so I don't know what accent they really have but she makes the characters come to life.

Creative serial killer

DARKNESS ON THE FENS, Book 10 in the Nikki Galena series, is yet another winner from English author Joy Ellis. This is likely the most complex novel in the series. I do wish the author would end the involvement of Nikki's mother and her crime sleuthing friends Narration by Henrietta Meire is superb as usual.

The novels in this series are standalone.

Great Read

I've read more than one critism of adding the characters of Galena's mother and friends, but I quite enjoy the unfolding of those tendrils. I look forward to the continuing stories and the character's growth.
