About this listen

A storm is brewing....

Some of our old friends have returned home safely, to be with the ones they love and trust. Even as their warm greetings of welcome are offered, another threat builds on the horizon. It enters their home in the form of a little girl.

What the child visitor carries within her is an adversary as single-minded and deadly as the zombie hordes themselves. It is known to have existed over 350 years, and it takes life without consideration of age or innocence.

At the same time, another female child, unable to quell her siren call, beckons the Mothers. They, in turn, gather the Hungerers to follow.

Join our family of survivors once again, and prepare to brace yourself against the coming onslaught.

I know the author has also been the narrator for this series but for whatever reason, I found his performance for this book, particularly lacking. The distinction of characters by their voices were muddied this reading. I was often unsure of who was speaking, unless it was Flex, Hemp or Nels (who are truly distinct). For a good portion of the book, his performance was rather lackluster and drab, sounding almost as if he was bored or depressed. Otherwise, another great installment of the series!

Great Story but Narrating "Off"

This series is much fun!! Zombie gore and action yet characters that are easy to fall in love with.

Great Series!

As I read mainly technical manuals, I only get the opportunity to listen to anything that is not technical while commuting! This has been an amazing series and I cannot wait for VII and VIII to come to Audible!

Awesome book! Nice twists to this one!

Wow! So damn good. I hate to see the series end. Eric A. Shelman has done a terrific job with this series of books. He has created characters that you really care about.
His narration is spot on, as it should be. Afterall, the author knows what voice the book should have.

Dang good.

And suddenly the poor recording issues are gone when the author reads himself. The author is actually quite good at narrating and got better the more he read. It was only in the beginning prologue that he breathed into the microphone. The female voices weren't the greatest, but they were good enough.

The most important aspect of this series is the character depth and relations between the main characters.

I prefer my zombies stories to be grittier and darker and I'm not a keen fan of supernatural stuff, like talking babies. But the storyline held up for the most part. Good book in the end!

Good story, good recording!

I thoroughly enjoyed the The Gathering Storm. I'm a huge fan of Eric A Shelman as a narrator and Author, and I love the Dead Hunger series. But I felt a change in this one, there's just some depth that wasn't there before.

Glad I dont have to wait for the next one!

Best Book so far!

I loved the story but struggled through the narration which was sad to me because I love listening to him read. He sounds either like he was sick or bored but that can’t be since this is his own book he narrated. He normally sounds great and I look forward to it but I almost stop listening it was so bad. Sorry this should be redone it’s a waste of money or credit. If I could have given it a negative number I would have. Sorry

Story was good Narration not so much

no matter how many times I read or listen to the Dead Hunger series, I am still enthralled by the world Eric has created. The intensity with which he writes is just natural born talent. Eric has a way of creating characters you just know are real somewhere in the world. His story telling is bar none and I can't think of any other series that I read over and over and find something new and magical in each time.

Amazing as all the rest of the Dead Hunger series

For those who have come this far with Flex and his group as I have. This book brings a coming storm. In more ways than one. And if you've been along for the ride since the beginning, be prepared to say goodbye to a friend. How will Flex and company survive the storm? You'll just have to see for yourself.

A coming storm
