About this listen

The people that killed the world were fiendishly clever.

After decades of planning, the contagion was unleashed, and overnight hundreds of millions died and came back as rampaging, undead monsters. The living that had been lucky enough to survive the first day of carnage, lucky enough to be in the right place, and lucky enough that some of them had the skills to survive soon found out there was much more to worry about than just zombies.

In the high desert on the outskirts of Reno, there is an old truck stop frequented by a mix of hard caliber truckers, day tourists, musicians, and travelers. They have survived the chaotic first hours of contact with the undead and now must make their way across the country to a location they believe is safe. Zombies are only the beginning of their troubles as they try to cover the thousands of miles of open road with their hastily armored 18-wheelers. Gunny, a long haul trucker doing one of the few jobs available to him as a disgraced soldier, is unwillingly saddled with the job of getting these survivors to the safe zone. With a motley crew of truck drivers, college kids, veterans, a drug dealer, and a rock star, they are racing the clock to make it before time runs out. The last text he had received from his wife before the cell towers went down told him she was trapped in a high-rise in downtown Atlanta and their son was in detention, stranded in the basement of the school he attended. Gunny just wanted to drop the hammer, steal some guns, and blast his way in to rescue them, but duty called. He had to get these people to safety first, then he could recruit the best of this crew to help him save his family. If they survived the journey.

The Best Zombie Series Ever!

I am a zompocalypse junkie and I have read, watched and listened to over 100 different zombie stories. This one beats them all hands down! You need this book, you need to at least read or listen to the first one, give it a go, I think you will like it!

LOVED IT

Omg! So good! Love this one! All the characters are amazing. The writing is great and narration by Shelman was excellent. I read a ton of zombie and post apocalyptic books and this one is definitely one of the best. Can’t wait to read or listen to more in this series.

UNIQUE

I love the zombie genre and listen to series from Tufo, Shelman, O'Brien and it was Eric A. Shelman narrating that brought me here. The set up for this zombie event goes a totally different direction then any other books. It taps into current events to a certain extent and is by no means PC ( which I appreciate).
Gunny, the primary character, draws you in quick. It is an average working man who has a past that holds a few skeletons (whose doesn't). He is honorable and speaks his mind. As I listened, the dialogue in the book is what the average American would be thinking and saying. If you are one of the gun loving NRA members, you'll appreciate this.
The BA truck idea, while not new, is definitely amped up in this book. Eric A. Shelman is a great narrator. Keep on truckin' into the series (okay, really bad pun) :)

Thoroughly enjoyable exciting zombie book

This book has great characters and an intriguing explanation for the cause of the zombie outbreak. I love the truck drivers, many with military backgrounds. They are hard charging fearless men and women. There are also non truck drivers, including a rock star, deputy sheriffs, bikers, drug dealer and others. The author is adept at spinning a great story and writing good dialog. He also does a great job creating vivid characters. I was immersed in the story and was really pulling for the people from three Flags Truck Stop (near Reno NV) as well as other survivors. I wanted them to be able to escape and find a safer place.

There are two other situations that play a big part in the plot. A truck driver, former Army Sgt named Gunny (the main male lead) knows that his wife and son are in Atlanta (wife in her office and the son in the school basement) and are still alive. He wants to go get them but is pulled between his love for them and his responsibility for the survivors at Three Flags Truck Stop. The story flits back and forth between Gunny's situation and the story of his wife and son.

Great book with fantastic narration. I want to continue with this series because the characters are so likable and the story is compelling.

Not for the PC crowd

This one had a twist to the beginning of the Zombie Apocalypse and is not for he PC crowd of today. It does however make a great storyline. The main and central characters are stranded in a truck stop, most if not all are ex military and when it hits the fan, they jump into action. You have the usual crowd of gun control people but they quickly fall in line with what they must do to survive and it's not pretty. To leave in search of family they devise an ingenious mode of transportation. It's not called Convoy of Carnage for nothing. It is one of the better ZomPoc stories out there and worth moving on to the next. Eric Shelman, one of my favorite indie authors was fantastic in his narration of the story. Looking forward to more ...
