Story
Imagine finding a glimmer of good news in a diagnosis of Alzheimer's. And imagine how that would change the outlook of the five million Americans who suffer from Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, not to mention their families, loved ones, and caretakers. A neurologist who's been specializing in dementia and memory loss for more than 20 years, Dr. Gayatri Devi rewrites the story of Alzheimer's by defining it as a spectrum disorder - like autism, Alzheimer's is a disease that affects different people differently.

Comforting and well narrated
My nan is 96 and has recently developed Dementia. It's been incredibly tough for everyone in the family as she has deteriorated quite quickly. She is also a lot worse after sunset (the sundowners) and we wanted to understand more as a family how we can best support our nan. The audible was well structured and it was interesting to understand how the brain operates when dementia starts happening. The chapter on assisted care was really good as that's the stage we are at and it confirmed the choices we had made were the right ones while adding other areas to look at. Highly recommended.

Developing bonds with dementia patients.
When you are towards your old age, like age 60 many bodily functions start to decline as well as the brain that shrunk from your childhood now starts to show its effect on your mental activities.
Dimentia, an impaired ability to remember, think, or make decisions that interferes with doing everyday activities, is mostly common in older people. I myself experienced this disease with my grandfather when I found this book, which guided me a lot to handle the challenging behaviors.
It is really helpful to maintain a love bond with your loved ones.

An informative guide
It is an informative and a complete guidance for people who are suffering from a disease; Dementia. I liked this book as it is awaring about the precautionary measurements which a person needs to follow in that certain circumstance.
The author has explained everything in the well way and I got an opportunity to know about this disease and it's solution.
I must say that it is a good recommendation.

Amazing help!
The author covered so much in a relatively short time. Most helpful for me was the chapter about being the caregiver. While the other mentions of concern were communication, behaviors, legal, and financial. But how endearing to have a section about the caregiver maintaining wellness. Wonderful book.

Incredibly helpful tips
I'm so happy I found this book. This is so helpful for caregivers and really gives them the tools to be better prepared and able to handle certain challenges. I thought the part on the available GPS tracking devices one can use to help with the wondering stage was very helpful.

Very well done
The title does justice. This book effectively detangled all the knots about its topic and provides much-needed help to caregivers, as well as family and friends. Narrated in a soothing voice, the spirit of the moment is to provide tools, tips, and guidance. I have learned a lot more than I already knew. Sometimes it is hard to see someone with this condition so helpless, but with this handbook, all confusion is removed as to how to act at different times in different situations. Very well done.

Good Companion For Dementia Patients!
I like this audiobook! As it is very helpful and supportive in developing understanding between a caregiver and patient. Especially the theme that the author has chosen is amazing.
Nowadays, problems are very common among human beings but dementia mostly influences older adults, it is not a part of normal aging. If your loved ones are diagnosed with this issue then you must read this book to tackle this kind of problem.
This book is easy to listen to and understand its significance. The narrator used a calm voice. Highly recommended!

Informative and written with care
This book was very informative. The top sections that resonated with me are:
-Why you need to develop a good working relationship with your loved one’s medical team – and the information you need to keep track of when coordinating with them
-How to take advantage of technology in caring for your loved one – from clocks and communication aids to GPS tracking devices.
-You must make legal, financial, and housing considerations to ensure your loved one is properly protected.
-When you may need to consider assisted care, assisted living arrangements, or specialized nursing
-How to look after your own needs so that you have the strength and energy to look after everyone else
This book helped educate and support. I learned a lot and no longer feel alone. Get the guidance and support you need to tackle this devastating condition.
