Publisher's summary

Seattle police detective Joanne Walker started the year mostly dead, and she’s ending it trying not to be consumed by evil. Literally.

She’s proven she can handle the gods and the walking dead. But a cannibalistic serial killer? That’s more than even she bargained for. What’s worse, the brutal demon can only be tracked one way. If Joanne is to stop its campaign of terror, she’ll have to hunt it where it lives: the Lower World, a shamanistic plane of magic and spirits.

Trouble is, Joanne’s skills are no match for the dangers she’s about to face—and her on-the-job training could prove fatal to the people she’s sworn to protect.…

The Hunt is on!

What did you love best about Demon Hunts?

All of it!

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this book. I'm not sure if I liked or hated the emotions the boiled up in me when Jo came face to face with Sarah but this book sure did have teeth. I was kinda hoping for more of a punch, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing Sarah again.

Great book in a terrific series.

I have fallen for this series as well as for the Negotiator series. C. E. Murphy keeps the action realistic if it is possible in at a fantasy level as well as moving. Never a dull moment in Joanne's life. However, it is not all "peaches and cream" since she finally accepted her shaman powers. The mechanic tie-ins help keep the story anchored as it makes sense that you would use what you know to figure out things that are "way out" of your knowledge realm. I definitely recommend this series and agree with the other reviewers to get a complete understanding of Joanne's life and what makes her tick --- you need to read the series in order. However, if you just want to pick up a good action fantasy book to read and not worry too much about what has happened this book does a good job of explaining and catching you up without bogging down the series reader.

A fun listen

Murphy creates a wonderfully vivid world with all the emotional trimmings. Joanne Walker is a dynamic heroine with a wonderful inner voice. This installment focuses on Joanne's role as protector and healer and we see Joanne heal herself as well as find out more about Coyote. Murphy is a fantastic writer and this is an excellent book!

FAST BECOMING ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS

I have all of the titles in the Walker paper and am slowly working my way through the entire series have enjoyed every book although there are some similarities to the plot line each has a new gift or Insight that is learned as a result of her shamanic power. I love listening to the narration and at first I thought it was going to be 21 toned but I realize that she has so much Nuance in her voice that she doesn't have to have large and bold changes in the tone of her boys in order to impart a different character great listen recommended highly

Terrible reader!

What would have made Demon Hunts better?

A different reader. Her male voices are hideous. She makes Morrison sound like a pipsqueak.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Gabra Zackman?

Lorelei King, Marguerite Gavin, or Dina Perlman.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. This is the best novel in the series, but the audiobook is so bad I could only listen to a few minutes of it.
