About this listen

Sean had long waited for his chance to avenge his friends from Oakwood— when the time finally came, it was with several unlikely allies: High Lady Minerva Queensblood, who felt her family owed Sean for helping her son, Commander Queensblood. Advisor Mackenzie Earthfoot, who had to walk a thin line to not favor Sean too much, lest she earn the Queens’ ire.

With his friends and allies, Sean time and again thwarted Lord Truestrike and his minions. He even befriended his daughter, Dame Trisha Truestrike, giving her hope that she might one day see Darragh again. It was when Sean brought down the Greater Vampire, Luka, that High Lady Queensblood pushed for the duel Sean had long sought.

During the duel, Truestrike’s treachery was revealed when he summoned a Life Bonded dragon to kill Sean. Sean almost died a few times, but even a dragon bowed before him at the end. Ironically, it wasn’t Sean who finally killed Lord Truestrike. No, it was Trisha, who slew her father to avenge her lover, Darragh.

With Lord Truestrike’s death, Trisha was destined to take over the Truestrike House and have her son returned to her from her father’s grasp. That ended in tragedy, as the spoiled brat struck her down for ‘stealing his birthright.’ His reign only lasted as long as it took the guard to remove his head from his shoulders.

But more bad news was waiting— the scribes had sent messages to the Queens. Both Winter and Summer were coming, and Sean wouldn’t be able to avoid them. That put him on the clock to pull off what the stories had said he would do: find the Huntsman.

To manage that, he’d need to figure out how to open a portal back to Earth. If he did, Sean would likely find an old enemy waiting for him; Thor hadn’t forgotten the slights against his name, and he wanted revenge.

Time was ticking away, and Sean had to work fast. His wives, especially Fiona, were counting on him. Sean had never backed down from a challenge, and he wasn’t about to start now. He’d either figure out how to create a portal, or he’d end up facing the Queens on less than diplomatic terms.

Well Sean finished in the true crybaby fashion

Grrrrrrrr.. he had done so well with everything in the last three books building to something intense.. this feels like a rushed end with Sean completely off his chain.. he spends most of this book yelling. Honestly, for me it was so bad I wish they would have just killed him.. he’s completely unhinged.. acting like a complete a$$ one second then trying to be nice the second.. the queens are such imposing characters it’s really sad they only see one book.. they should have just killed him lol.. he had it coming LOLOLOL

Great ending to the series

This book wrapped up the series nicely. I have to admit it wasn’t my favorite book in the series. I thought the author tried too hard to include every character (still alive) from the series to be in this last book. I also thought parts of it were somewhat slow.

However, having said this, it really was a great ending to a fantastic series that has brought me hundreds of hours of joy to my life. Oh, and Andrea was fantastic as always.

Completion!! Isn't it satisfying!!

From the moment this book started all the way to the end I was absolutely enthralled. DJ has combined the best of gaming and love together to bring forth a story that is entrancing and satisfying in so many ways.

Always a great read

Loved so much of this book especially the comments about other books the author had wrote. A bit sad to see the series end, but hopefully the family will make a cameo appearance in another series.

it's well written

right up front just know that I recommend the series. the narrator has delivered another fantastic performance. I have never seen her do less than an amazing job. from here out Simply know that the quality of the writing is as good as all of Daniel's fans have come to expect from him. the rest of the review is simply detailing my personal preference and should not reflect poorly on the author's skills. there are three stories that I like the most from this author with luck voice coming in at 3rd and binding word competing with aether's Revival for first place. in the end the ladder is my all-time favorite. I did not particularly care for the first two books in The Binding word series and I have never liked how the Norse pantheon was portrayed in the story. personally I do like the vanir over the aesir, but I still found that part of the story extremely annoying. unfortunately for me the author chose to essentially book in the story by revisiting the conflict between our characters and the Norse pantheon. in addition this entry into the series came off as more of James story, Sean's friend from way back when as opposed to an ending to Sean's story. like I said it was well written but I didn't really care about the friend and it's been so long that it's unfortunate that this is how the series ends. I will say that I did like the epilogue which made things a little bit better. I am sad that we never saw the blood hearts on motorcycles though. I'm also kind of surprised that we didn't get any sort of bloopers at the end of the story but it is the end so I'm not completely shocked over it. I will say that sometimes the bloopers especially when they follow a really emotional ending is like nails on chalkboard, but for the end of a series with a light ending it would have been appreciated assuming that there even were any.

Happy

This book makes me happy that one of my favorite authors finished the series. If anyone wants a series that will draw you in and keep you invested in the story. This series is the top of my list.

Why end it now?

I have followed this story and have loved the books. This was a lot to fit into this book and I still loved every second. I hope and pray to see a continuation or a spin-off of this series. They have a new world and Helga's original one plus the " Adventures of James the Huntsman". More, more.....MORE!
