About this listen

A restaurant owner is found brutally tortured and murdered on a Texas ranch.

A rural fighter is desperately trying to escape a dark past and the demons that dwell there.

In the second installment of the best-selling Billy Beckett series, Billy is desperately trying to pick up the pieces a year after the sensational kidnapping of his star client and the tragic deaths of his brother and a close friend. The formerly unshakable sports agent isn’t sure how to play the game anymore. Despite this, he’s thrust into two volatile situations with danger and deceit lurking at every turn. Will Billy be able to put it all on the line for his clients? Or will he succumb to the crushing pressure of the highest possible stakes?

Unexpectedly great!

This book is entirely different from book one so there are no mafia type mobsters and hit men. That does not mean there is no intrigue. There is plenty. Billy Beckett is one of those fellows that reminds you of a cat. A cat with nine lives. Since this is book two, he has used up two of his nine lives. Only one more book in the series to go so I guess Billy only has three lives. He sure does know how to land on his feet.

So happy this book was finished.

Thank you to Mr. Pratt’s family for completing this book! It’s perfect!
I just discovered him earlier this year and tore through all his books. I only found out he’d passed when I stated looking for this book. I’m so sorry we’ve lost a wonderful story teller and humanitarian. GOD BLESS his family.

A different modern detective novel!

When author Scott Pratt died late last year he left several incomplete manuscripts which his family has hired other authors to complete.. Some of those were about a professional sports agent named Billy Beckett. Like all of Pratt's novels these are set in the mountains of east Tennessee. DIVINE STRIKE is the second novel in the Billy Beckett series and Pratt's friend Kelly Hodge completed the novel. I, and other Scott Pratt fans, are happy that his family in taking the steps to complete his partially written novels.

DIVINE STRIKE is a must listen for Scott Pratt fans. For those not familiar with Pratt's works the best place to start is with Book1 of the Joe Dillard legal thriller series (title: The Innocent Client). Like with this novel the entire nine novel Joe Dillard series is narrated by Tim Campbell.

Meh

I love Scott Pratt's Joe Dillard series, and I really wanted to like Billy Beckett, but it just doesn't do it for me. Billy isn't as likable a character, and the story went on forever.

Not Scott Pratt quality.

The book starts well enough, but it is all down hill from there. I've listened to every book Pratt has written. Most of them twice. This book was stunningly poor. A bad predictable story about a female MMA fighter and her dysfunctional family. The characters are poorly developed and shallow. If you love Scott Pratt like I do, do not buy this recording. Leave Scott's reputation intact.
