About this listen

After the tragic death of their eleven-year-old son, Adam and Ella are fighting to keep their family from falling apart. Then comes an opportunity that seems too good to be true. They win a competition to live for free in a breathtakingly beautiful mansion on the Cornish Lizard Peninsula. There’s just one catch: the house is supposedly haunted.

Mystery has always swirled around Fenton House. In 1920, the house’s original owner, reclusive industrialist Walter Lewarne, hanged himself from its highest turret. In 1996, the then inhabitants, George Trehearne, his wife Sofia, and their young daughter Heloise, disappeared without a trace. Neither mystery was ever solved.

Adam is not the type to believe in ghosts. As far as he’s concerned, ghosts are simply memories. Everywhere he looks in their cramped London home he sees his dead son. Despite misgivings, the chance to start afresh is too tempting to pass up. Adam, Ella, and their surviving son, Henry, move into Fenton House. At first, the change of scenery gives them all a new lease of life. But as the house starts to reveal its secrets, they come to suspect that they may not be alone after all…

Great story and the plot was moderately fast- paced; the main character and his actions are rememberable as relatable especially if you are a writer!

Great book!

Great story crafting, great pace and delivery, just a really solid and enjoyable read. The vocal artist Ralph Lister did great. I don’t listen to many artists at 1x speed but Lister is spot on for my tastes

This book starts off rather slow but if you can get past that it gets so so much better. Great book

Slow start but great finish.

A perfectly tame spooky haunted house story. I found it both entertaining and engaging while in the drive home from work.

An English Creepy Tale

The book started off strong and then it fell off. Boring read. It ends with you having to buy the next book in order to see if something is true or not and that was the only interesting plot of the book! I'm not wasting my money to find out. I'll just never know the truth.

Long for no reason

I liked it. It had unnecessary sex scenes which bothers me as it feels like authors do that to sell more books ugh!!..but anyways, thankfully it was not too graphic. The story was solid and kept me engaged. Nothing award winning but definitely a good light listen when you’re busy cleaning the garage or doing laundry.

It was good
