About this listen

When best friends Hannah and Scarlett meet Thomas in college—the chemistry is instantaneous. They grow closer while playing the Daring Game, where each dare is riskier than the last. As the trio's friendship begins to cross boundaries between the platonic and the illicit, jealousy and secrets quickly develop. As tensions between the three grow, so do the stakes in the Daring Game, resulting in tragedy with Scarlett’s final dare to Thomas. When Thomas gets expelled from school and leaves without a trace, it seems like the Daring Game has finally ended.

Sixteen years later, Hannah is unhappy in marriage and in life. That is, of course, until she gets a mysterious letter about the Daring Game from none other than Thomas himself. With Scarlett out of the picture and a renewal of the dangerous game, the sparks begin to fly between them once more. Until the day Hannah and Thomas are called to the secret meeting place of the Daring Game, where they’re welcomed by a single dare—“to tell the truth.”

Someone else has joined the game and knows about their affair, going as far as leaving a cryptic message in Hannah’s house: Don’t You Dare. Hannah’s list of suspects is long: Could it be her nosy neighbor, Libby, who has a few secrets of her own? Or did her husband plan this as revenge for the torrid affair? Is Scarlett back and ready to play again?

The truth may set Hannah free—but only if she dares to risk everything she knows and loves.

surprisingly steamy and super fun!

3.75 stars for Don't You Dare by Jessica Hamilton - a steamy little thriller that I was surprised to really enjoy. You can read the synopsis on the book jacket, but I will briefly describe it as a college threesome with a proclivity towards danger that have fun with a Dare Game they made up - until they don't. The dynamics of the threesome is dysfunctional at best - frenemies with a boy thrown in to fight over. Eventually they grow up and move on and become functioning, albeit bored, adults. When the romantic couple of the threesome reconnect sparks ignite and the games return, although you are not quite sure who is playing who which truly adds to the suspense of the story. The MC is an unreliable narrator and you are never quite sure who to trust or what to believe. That edge of uncertainty really worked for this story and kept me engaged. I love being suspicious of every character in the book! There was a few decent creepy scenes that I also found thoroughly enjoyable. Definitely recommend for fans of mystery/thrillers.

Don’t you Dare

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Did you ever play Truth or Dare? Three friends Scarlett, Hannah an Thomas play this game in college. Hannah likes Thomas, but Scarlett is part of the group. Their dates or really risky and can take things way too far. One of the dares gets Thomas suspended.

Fast forward sixteen years Hannah is married to Evan and has two daughters but their life is not perfect. Hannah gets a note from her old crush Thomas about their game.

Let the games begin. Danger, Risks, stalking, break ins, and affairs. A fun- fast paced thriller!

Boring and too long

I struggled to make It through this book. it wasn't until almost 8 hours in that anything happened, and it was so predictable. it isn't "steamy" or "sensual" it's cringy at best. nobody in this book was likable, and the story is the pov of a board soccer mom.
the story was boring, predictable, and TOO LONG, given that the main character is boring and unlikable. The author portrayed that well.
