About this listen

I was naïve to think my marriage to Luka Catano might work.

I was infatuated with him from afar...

Until I met him.

He loved the challenge of his next conquest, anyone would do...

Except me.

A wife was never something he wanted.

Torturous was not a strong enough word to describe how I felt when I was in a room with Luka. Besides hating nearly every word that came out of his mouth, I also drowned with lust every time I looked at him.

At times I thought he might feel the same.

But nothing prepared me for what his family would make me become.

3.5 stars

I am so conflicted about this rating and review! Main character Eden had small bursts of attitude, rebellion and backbone, which are great things to see. But not enough of any of those to really make me like her. She mostly read as whiney and weak. And Luka was pretty much a self-admitted douche. I never felt like these two were connected as a couple and didn't understand their love. BUT all that being said, I really liked this book, which I did by audio. It was interesting to hear this narrator with an accent for the whole book. I think it would have been interesting to see some from Luka's pov, maybe that would have connected me more.

Don’t know how I feel about it.

I read the reviews before. I don’t mind cheating romance. Actually, depending on my mood I go for cheating romance. This book had a great storyline, I was into the storyline like no one’s business. It was written pretty well.

Now the bad (for me). The narrator was annoying. Her British accent did NOT work. I couldn’t tell you how many times I had to almost turn it off because it was so frustrating. The other downfall was the female character. OMG!!! I just couldn’t. She was so whiny. She cried more in this book than she spoke. It was like reading about a toddler. If she wasn’t crying (which was 98% of the time), she was throwing a temper tantrum. I wish the female character would have had more of a backbone.

All in all, I don’t know if I would have wasted a credit on it because I don’t think the good out ways the bad, but it wasn’t the worst book I’ve ever listened to or read. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Luca and Eve

I loved this story. Eve and Luca are pawns in an arranged marriage. She desires him but he's callous and resentful. They go through so much in their relationship before they finally get it right to include a murder, assasination attempt, infidelity, and hateful family members but there's love and forgiveness which leads to Luca and Eve' HEA. Narration was good as well.

Hot, Steamy, infuriating, but worth it!

I read this in a day and a half! Couldn't put it down!! You will want to rip off Luka's head for much of the book, but that's a big part of the angsty fun!! Willow Aster is such a talented writer... I read everything she writes without reading the back of the book... she never disappoints.

Great Read

Downfall (Kingdoms of Sin #1) was a great read by Willow Aster. Princess Eden Safrin knew that she was naive to think her marriage to Luka Catano might work. She was infatuated with him from a distance until she met him. He never wanted a wife, only the challenge of his next conquest. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.

Love/hate

I feel like I had a love hate relationship with this story. Throughout the book my feelings towards Luca ranged from hating him to loving him them back to hating him and so on.
Luckily he was able to redeem himself and his actions by the end of the book. As always Savannah Peachwood is fantastic bringing all of the characters to life.

Like having a Fairy Tale Read to Me at Bedtime!

Wow! This was a total modern day fairy tale. Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses, Castles and Kingdoms.
Luka and Eden have an engagement as a result of an arrangement by their fathers.
Both of them have completely different expectations of how the relationship will work and Luka makes it very clear to Eden that her ideas are wrong.
Eden is such a lovely, vibrant character albeit a little naive and I adored her from the beginning.
I'd say I spent 78% of this book hating Luka. With that combination, I was hooked. It just killed me at some points, but I enjoy books that make me feel uncomfortable.

Savannah Peachwood nailed the accents and voices. It felt like a real story rather than someone reading it.

I am moving on to the rest of this series because I can't wait to see what becomes of the other characters.

DNF

What was this gutter? Steer clear if you are in the mood for romance. Weak, pathetic heroine and a serial cheater for a hero. My first audio book that I could NOT finish.
