Enjoyable but problematic

I have mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed it, but the character development wasn't great. Lia kills a lot of guards without a second thought (to be fair they probably would have attacked her if she didn't, but she acted preemptively) then towards the end the book states that every death pained her. Then there's the relationship between her and the dragon Grandion, which is not at all healthy. At one point, after she was attacked and thrown in jail just because she, as a woman, dared to carry weapons on her person, he is angry AT HER and apparently wanted to "put her over his talon and give her a beating" and she feels bad and apologizes for not allowing it, saying that she "should've trusted him not to hurt her." At another point, she tears off her clothes due to fire ants, and when he sees her undressed he seems to literally lose his mind for a moment, approaching her as if she were a snack. She tells him to look away and that he's scaring her, but he doesn't respond. It's never adequately explained why he seemed to lose it like that, but more importantly, afterwards, they both act as if nothing at all happened.

If Shakespeare and Disney had a child

I admit to using a dictionary several times. The author uses a lot of big rarely used words poetically arranged in a way that would make Shakespeare proud .
However the story appeals to my inner childs earliest fantasies. About a girl with obpressive parents who befriends a dragon and goes on a magical adventure to restore the balence between good and evil. If this book were a disney movie it would be a favorite for young girls everywhere!

OMG, sooo Good!

This beautiful world of dragons and a little girl fighting for her life sets us up to touch the real essence of what it would be like to Meet and interact with these mythical beasts in there natural environments.
After this roller-coaster of a story, all I can think and EVEN dream about is what it would BE LIKE to live a life like this teenager, to "roar"" like her.
I am filled with AWE! This is only book#1 YAY!

Interesting story that keeps you interested

Overall, I enjoyed the story and characters and fantasy fiction. Plenty of action and plots that keep you interested. There were times that the story became slightly odd and hard to believe without laughing at the thought. I won’t reveal anything so I can only leave it at that. I felt it moved too fast at times and I was lost as to what happened: I would have to listen to things a few times. I still found I missed some concepts bc it wasn’t explained or was only briefly mentioned that I didn’t catch it. It was a decent beginning to a story overall though. You aren’t left hanging at the end. I look forward to listening to the next in the series.

Amazing!!!!!!!!

Well I have been searching for a book just like this one! I literally couldn't stop until the very end which left me sobbing. If you are looking for a book that stacks up to the great works of literature such as The Lord of the Rings and Eragon you will fall head over heals for this gem of a book and luckily there appears to be 4 books in total !!!!! I can hardly wait to start the next book ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Fantastic Humor

This was a fun read, or rather a listen, as I've listened the to the audiobook. I was very intrigued with the concept of dragons, and smaller dragonettes. I thought it was very clever, and the bickering humor between characters was excellent as well. The narrator did a fantastic job, and the author did a great job creating a world, plot, characters, and emotional attachments. The end was sad, complete, and leaves you wanting more. I look forward to checking out the next book!
