Gorliad is the first crowned prince to hatch in centuries. But can he rule?

Destined to one day conquer a kingdom of his own, he begins his rigorous training and progresses wonderfully. That is, until a rival dragon descends upon the kingdom in a ferocious battle that leaves Gorliad crippled and bereft of his birthright.

The young dragon will need to find the fires deep within his soul if he is to overcome his handicap, but even victory may bring defeat as he will have to risk his father's kingdom and everything in it to ascend to his promised throne.

Beautiful and complex, this story is highly recommended. I can not wait for the next book.

A proper dragon tale!

This story it’s mostly of a dragon prince who is rejected by his family and kingdom after being injured and rendered disabled. It’s told from many points of view, and it was cool to see all of the politics and intrigue that went on in the shadows that drove the more visible story line. The dragon culture world building is great, too! In the end, I even got a little teary!

An amazing story of epic scope!

The story was decent, but it never really pulled me in. It was perfect for having something to listen to while working, and was just interesting enough that l'll read the rest of the series.

Decent story for background listening

Most fantasy books see dragons as evil monstrous beasts. They focus on elves, dwarves, and other species fighting along side humans. This is a refreshing twist where the Dragon is the center of the story. Paul Boehmer does a very good job reading a very entertaining story as well keeping the listener engaged in the story. I loved how the author developed his characters throughout the book. You will love and hate the characters but you will also understand them and feel what they are going through. This is a great read or listen for anyone that loves dragons or fantasy lore.

Dragons!!!

I could only read half of this book. Loads of build up to even have the dragon book start dragon-ing, only to then make the story feel like a direct rip from another book.

The story mimics E. E. Knight’s Age of Fire series with the Copper. Same injury, same lameness, but add a bunch more misery and plots. Honestly, if you haven’t read Knight’s series, this sounds like a good book, but it isn’t for me. I wanted a book about dragons doing dragon stuff. The first fifth is about dwarves… This book isn’t about dragons, but the symbiotic relationship between dragons and dwarves, where some are in charge of others, species not dependent.

Great work by the narrator!

Meh, it’s okay…

I don’t know why so many authors find it necessary to cripple MCs by having them lose an arm it’s getting old.I cannot even escape by listening to a dragon book like wtf

Limb loss need to stop
