About this listen

My name is Volrath, and I am an Aesir of Asgard.

I have no family name to speak of, but then I discovered I could tame, train, and breed the great dragons that are feared throughout Asgard. Now that I have this incredible power, it is my mission to scour the nine realms in search of more dragons to add to my menagerie.

I am joined by a beautiful Light Elf and a powerful half-Valkyrie sorceress, and these women want to bind themselves to me and bear my children.

This is the start of my legacy, and my journey to sit beside Odin and Freya as the greatest warrior mage Asgard has ever seen.

I’ve always loved the mythology of the Norse. Logan did a great job integrating the mythology into the story. As always Jessica did a fantastic job! So did Christopher, I liked his narration in this book better than some of the other series he’s worked on. Definitely worth the purchase and listen!

Great new series for me!

I really liked this book but there are a few things that I just can't let go of. 1) the protagonist is an orphan and the author puts a lot of time into building the importance of lineages and houses but never shows examples of said houses, no designated part of the city for those recognized houses, important characters are said to be important because of their lineage but the name of those lines is never mentioned. 2) it is brought up multiple times from different people how Valkyries and light elves don't get along and one of the main characters even says that she'll explain why when she knows the protagonist better. well she gets to know him MUCH better but the light elf and Valkyrie conflict is never explained. 3) the protagonist is part of a military unit and disappears for weeks at a time without any blowback or consequences for being absent (he eventually gets a mission from people higher in command but still).

forgotten plot points

Wish the MC was a touch smarter but honestly it's a really good book. His soul bonded women are top tier.

really good

This one got me emotional quite a few places. Typically Dragons are depicted as THE apex predator, and/or God's/godlike/devils/demons/whatever. This goes softer, while still incredibly powerful as you'd expect from dragons, they are depicted closer towards pacifists, while not exactly pacifists.

the Narrators were spectacular. two of my favorites.

now my dislikes. a few plot points were dropped or forgotten about. like the elf and valkryie feud. or fenrir showing up.

but overall I'd say this is well worth the read, and then searching for the rest of the series.

wholesome take on dragons.

I love this book series it had great adventures and good romance. And of course Dragons, but I think the best part is how the actors catch the essence of each character and how they can voice each one with a good Nordic accent. can't wait for the next volume to come out I'll gladly rebuy this whole series again just so I can listen to it while I work.

Attention to detail.

This story was a slow start much like Skulduggery but once you get past chap 4 or 5 it gets moving you and don’t want to stop. I have I hopes for this series. I hope to see some more interactions of some minor characters who seems to be regularly mentioned.

Slow start but give it time
