About this listen

There are approximately 3,712 ways for a guy to look stupid during pregnancy - this book's here to help you avoid all (most) of them. And here's your first hint: Focus on what you can be doing for her rather than what's happening to her.

She's pregnant. She knows that. You know that. And her one 152 baby books tell her exactly what she can expect. Your job is to learn what you can do between the stick turning blue and the drive to the delivery room to make the next nine months go as smoothly as possible. That's where John Pfeiffer steps in.

Like any good coach, he's been through it. He's dealt with the morning sickness and doctor visits, painting the baby's nursery and packing the overnight bag, choosing a name, hospital, and the color of the car-seat cover. All the while he remained positive and responsive - there with a "You're beautiful" when necessary - but assertive during the decision-making process. (He didn't want to wind up with a kid named Percy.) And now it's your turn. She might be having the baby, but you have plenty of responsibilities.

Funny & True

Okay, so how do you write a review on a book about pregnancy written for men? I'm sure the author was thinking almost the same thing. So, what did he do? He made it fun. Unfortunately, I am not as talented as John Pfeiffer.

The author goes through many of the things that you might go through step-by-step. He throws in humor and makes it all about DON'T PANIC! His helpful hints have already given me a lot to think about and prepare for. He also gives practical advice on what is important and what is not important. (The book should have come with a handy PDF of important points and checklists!)

The narration of Mike Chamberlain is excellent. If you listen to the sample, you will know exactly what you are getting. He is perfectly matched on this one!

If you are one of the chosen few who are expecting, this book is for you!

Helpful Book

You can tell it was written years ago, but still a lot of helpful information.

Very helpful

I bought this for my son and our family listened to it as a “book study”:) Some read as a hard copy-I found the Audible listen to be perfect —-very very very helpful… I highly recommend

Better than “Expectant Father”

I started on that book because it has a lot more reviews but quickly found the author to be pessimistic. This book was a funny, informative and a good start to this journey to fatherhood. The book ends (spoiler? Can you spoil nonfiction?) with a nice story of a man’s perspective of his child’s birth. It feels like the author’s intent is to be a supportive teacher. As a father to be less than two weeks away, this was what I was looking for. Thank you!

Just Okay.

The first half felt like I was going to return the book. Too much trying to be funny and seemed directed towards the 18 year old that...oops she is pregnant. I didn't return it. There are some food things in the book but it could be condensed to half as long and with just as much knowledge.

An excellent book for first timers such as myself

If you’re looking for a book that is going to gently ease you into pregnancy (especially if this is your first child like it was mine). I highly recommend this book. it covers all of the trimesters what’s going on with your wife and things never people never taken in consideration what’s going on with you. Its lighthearted and funny at some points and downright serious at others when needed. I finished this almost 5 hour book in a day and a half the narration is excellent. I will probably listen to this book for five more times before my wife is due in August. I would highly recommend this book!

Jokingly great

Throughout about the first two-thirds of the book, John appears to talk to fathers-to-be as if they are all careless and incompetent beings, as if they know little to nothing about anything and need to be told what it means to be an informed and caring partner. The content also doesn’t appear to be all that structured. However, the majority of the useful content in here is fresh and original and is worth hearing for tips leading up to childbirth.
