About this listen

It started as just a game for Madison, but now, the entire virtual world may hinge on her decisions!

Madison only joined the Koyesta Online's early access because her brother begged her. Of course, the fact that they're awarding brand-new cryptocurrency to the early players for in-game actions might have something to do with it too. Thrust inside the world's most immersive fantasy VRMMORPG, Madison, her brother, and two cousins find themselves in some backwater little town, far away from other players and the main action of the game.

Determined to make the most of it, they set out on a series of adventures and stumble upon hidden ruins and a secret epic quest capable of reshaping the face of the game before it's even been officially released.

Join a dragon girl, a barbarian, an elf druid, and a beastmaster with a big cat named Buddy as they explore the boundless world of Koyetsa Online, battle monsters of all shapes and sizes, and find out whether they have what it takes to become true epic heroes.

good young adult novel!

Good story and narration!

this is a fun game lit book would be a great introduction for children or teens that you would like to introduce to the gamelit genre.

doesn't really have any cussing or adult situations.

the end hooked me

I won't lie I was having issues with this book but in the end I was hooked.

with an awesome world and a great game gimmick I really enjoyed.

Also tons of EverQuest references and I'll admit I'm a sucker for that.

good with small issues

1. why the heck didnt she use her breath weapon or wings more? supposed to be a dragon kin. dies to the spider and could have used the breath weapon. this just makes the character seem dumb

2. way. too. much. combat log as the battle. ug. i want to gouge my ears. the number of times ive skipped forward to avoid the annoying system log messages. theyre cool in moderation but shouldnt be a replacement for story telling. and yes the combat scenes in the abduction cycle were worse and more tedious. we dont need every blow or every damage count. sprinkle it in for effect and fun. right now its horrible.

Better as just a book

Good story but with the way it's written this would be so much better as just a book, as an audiobook the combat is disjointed as you're forced to hear the damage which make it sound like a turned based game, which is very disappointed if it is the case. Story is good, narrator is good, it's just awkward as an audiobook, maybe more for D&D oriented listeners?

very crunchy adventure!

well written litrpg with some very heavy and repetitive crunchy combat, I suspect it works well in written format because it's basically damage tables of damage notifications which are easy to read hard to listen to, but the narrator did an excellent job characters were distinct and easy to follow. would listen to a sequel

I wanted to like it

So first off for me I feel like the author was confusing some of the characters with 6 year olds. The emotional range and overall lack of any maturity at some points hurt me to listen to. The characters at times were just toddlers.

One of the most annoying parts for me was the fact that the brother and cousin were supposed to be gamers and this is brought up repeatedly. The two of them throw around some terminology and talk big but the MC is the one who is treated as an expert with her actions and planning. There was no real connection to information in the story. We were given facts and information about each character and it never actually fit.

I really wanted to like this story but it was an overall struggle to even get through it. The narrator was a poor fit for this book I believe and that also hurt it badly in my opinion. I rarely rate a book below 5 just because of how Amazon does reviews but this one earned it from me.

great story but bad character design

On the good side, the story and world are awesome, even really like the leveling system and how the game mechanics work. On the bad side, while the characters both females and males are around the ages of 17-18, they act exceedingly immature and naive. so much so that it felt like they were actually around the ages of 11-13. The characters also felt very dumb asking questions with glaringly obvious answers. while at other times the characters seems really clever. Also the reading of the combat logs takes too much time and kinda makes you lose focus on what's going on, should find ways to shorten them or compound them. I really want to like this book series but the characters are just too childish for me to like.

could be worse

The main characters are supposed tp be 18 to19, however they act like they are 12 to 14. Good concept poor execution. Male narrator bad at doing female voices another example that many narrators need to work with a partner..
