Excellent book overall! Worth the read/listen!

Great character development, believable situations, excellent plot, and a nicely flowing storyline. I went into this not knowing it was book 6 of a series and was still not disappointed! Could easily be a standalone. Can't wait to read books 1-5 and the final book 7 once released!

Great character development

That this could actually happen and no one would be prepared. I’m older and I fear that I wouldn’t make it if this happened

Riveting

Can not wait to finish this series! I love this genre but most of these stories have to do with Zombie type creatures… this was way better!

Lots of suspense. Did not want to stop listening.

Love these characters. They keep beating the odds because of their loyalty to each other and their belief in the possibility of a better future. Lots of great twists too, in the story line.

The characters

I appreciate how each character has a strong personality that stays true throughout the series … it’s easy to visualize the books because the narrator does an amazing job

Another great book...

I’m torn between excitement for the next installment, and sadness that the story is coming to an end. I’ve really grown to love these characters. Kyla is amazing at building characters and stories that you become completely attached to. The narrator is excellent, as always. I highly recommend this book, and all of her other series as well.

Still Loving This Series

I felt like the series had just about run its course at the end of book 5. After all, where was there to go after that? Silly me. Liam and Hannah just don't get to live the kind of life that floats down a lazy stream. Well, I suppose no one does since the EMP. But Liam and Hannah just have that factor that almost makes them prone to trouble, through no specific fault of their own.

This addition to the series reminds us just how unusual and strong Liam is, as he sets out to find the nephew he delivered on the day of the blackout. Liam lost his twin brother and his sister-in-law that day, then took the baby he delivered from his sister-in-law's body and gave it to her parents to raise. Now he's in search of this baby, to make sure the in-laws and baby arrived safely at their destination.

But this isn't just about Liam's new struggle in the badlands. There's more trouble headed for Fall Creek, which is under new management and making another go of creating a fair and decent community. Hannah and the good people of Fall Creek are finding that cooperation amongst the small communities nearby is akin to herding cats.

If you've been reading this series, don't stop now. The author has a lot more in store for us. But be prepared for another cliffhanger ending! If you're new to the series, it will be best enjoyed if you start at the beginning. The story and the characters are so richly developed, it wouldn't be nearly as good to just jump right in here. Either way, if you enjoy post-apocalyptic reads (which I generally don't), or you simply enjoy epic stories of survival against man and nature, I highly recommend this series.
