About this listen

A woman scorned...

All her life, Narnra of Waterdeep wondered who her father is. Amid the squalor of the streets, through the danger she faces daily as a thief in the City of Splendors, she speculates on whom the mysterious wizard might be who left her mother to raise a fatherless child.

Now she's discovered that it's no less a person than Elminster of Shadowdale, mightiest mage in all Faerian. And her anger is as boundless as his power.

Good overall story, Character development and more linear than usual, thats a good thing.

good story and performance
but the whole Narnra being mad at Elminster for not knowing she existed got real old real fast. I get she struggled, but her ma plotted to have her without Elminsters' knowledge.

kinda frustrated

Wish the book would have centered more and more on the main two characters of this book. But was more than satisfied with this book at its conclusion. A lot of big surprises and memorable moments. I enjoyed the story very much. Was sad to see the end of this particular series in the forgotten realms and its most powerful wizard. Not the best book of the bunch. But still very good.

Big Surprises In Story

Book was a bit slow going because of the jumping around done during the story. plus not quite what I expected.

Awesome book

The voice acting was wonderful, it helped organize and ground the story for me. I loved it.

The wonderful voice acting.

Was difficult keeping up with all the side events, and a trudge to work thru the building plots.

Follow the bouncing storyline...

Maybe this was an author who was bored and wanted to give something new a try. Ed Greenwood bleeds Forgotten Realms. Elminster has been a favorite of mine for a very long time. This style of writing was just painful to read. Trying to capture an old English style, I was left scratching my head at the descriptions of settings and what the characters were doing. I actually started to read the book first. Then, I thought I would try the audible version, hoping the narrator could bring some life to it.
The narrator is not good. He is at the mercy of the writing, but I felt like he was reading ingredients instead of a story.

Very surprised. Not in a good way.
