About this listen

USA Today best seller!

A disrespected ship, exiled to lonely patrol in the dark corners of the solar system.

A crew of screw-ups, written off by the entire fleet.

They're about to change everything.

If they don't blow themselves up first.

Join the Endurance's crew - a trigger-happy first officer, a hyperactive engineer, a shy covert operative, a conspiracy-spouting physicist, and a captain trying to earn his way back into his superiors' good graces - as they explore the galaxy by accident and trip their way into saving the world.

This anthology includes all five Endurance novellas, as well as two bonus short stories.

Quirky and cute. This was a fun listen. Nothing objectionable to me, interesting and engaging. I liked the stories & the narrator.

Loved it

Hey there. Just for starters, I’m not really a “deep literary reader”. This is something you need to know up front.

Each story in this series was a little on the simpler side, but for a person like me who just wants to have fun, it was perfect. Nothing too complicated, nothing too obvious either.

The series gets right to the point without taking any unnecessary time way from the goings on. There was good action, fun characters, and I had no sense of “oh, come on. It doesn’t work like that.” to jolt me out of the story. Your mileage may vary, but like I said, I had a good time.

There aren’t any major content warnings I need to give either, which is something that’s pretty important to me too.

There is some minor swearing, but not name-calling or anything like that. There wasn’t any gratuitous over-description of gore or violence, and there is no sex at all. Just some minor description of a married couple kissing and a peck or two from a new blossoming relationship. Neither lasting for more than a sentence or two.

The voice-acting was great too, I really felt like each character was distinct and you could easily tell everyone apart, which isn’t something I can say for every story I’ve listened to.

Honestly I just want more, but I also feel like Mr. Spahn stopped at the right time. I’m satisfied. There is room for maybe a sister series, but as it sits, the story just works and ends in a satisfying manor.

Just good clean sci-fi.

So I bought this on a lark, and I'm glad I did. I think I thought it would be more military Sci fi, which is fun if mostly brainless. I was wrong.

The first story was a comedy - I kinda felt like it was always on the edge of silly, but it never quite went that far. Just a bit ridiculous.

It was followed by a short story (all in the same overarching storyline), which was not at all a comedy. There was real pathos, real characters. It was *good*. The "bad" character had real motivations, and by the end of the story I wasn't sure which side I was on. And neither were the characters in the story, who understood each others' points of view. Wow.

All the stories have a touch of silly to them, but there's real character development here.

Bravo.

This one is special.

I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the story as well as the various characters. The narrator did a good job. I'll be looking for other books by the author. Thanks. I had a great time.

A compiled five-book series, Endurance is a fun ride into the world of misfits and space. Each member of the crew has a uniqueness and special ability that makes their journey to the farthest reaches of the universe a challenge. Once they arrive there, they encounter zombies, aliens, and more. In a rush to protect Earth and their families, the crew tries to outwit the evil and determined aliens. This is where the fun begins!

The author, A.C. Spahn weaves a fun story fraught with danger and adventure. Each character has a depth of personality and presence when appropriate. Each character and plot twist are well developed and executed. Each chapter flows smoothly into the next including the short-style chapters. A misfit captain on a ship of misfit crew members promises to be a fun time.

The narrator, James Fouhey, once again delivers an authentic and distinguished performance. He provides unique voices for each character that further enhances the story and action making the book highly enjoyable.

This book comes highly recommended to those who enjoy light, fun sci-fi books with suspense.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook, it was well done.

Fun Sci-Fi with Suspense Too!

Predictable, and ultimately forgettable. Doesn't really add anything new to the space opera genre. But if you like this genre as I do, you should still enjoy it. Worth buying if it comes on sale, but I wouldn't use a credit on it.

B level space opera

I do not want to spoil too much. That being said, if you enjoy shows like "the Orville" or "Star Trek" this is the right book for you. Plenty of entertainment for everyone.

sci-fi with a comedy twist

Except for the occasional curse word, this is more for a young adult audience. Overly simplistic tactics and slapstick commentary limit an otherwise interesting premise.

Should really be YA
