About this listen

As the son of a serial killer, homicide detective Thomas “Veck” DelVecchio, Jr., grew up in the shadow of evil. Now, on the knife-edge between civic duty and blind retribution, he atones for the sins of his father - while fighting his inner demons. Assigned to monitor Veck is Internal Affairs officer Sophia Reilly, whose interest in him is both professional and arousingly personal. And Veck and Sophia have another link: Jim Heron, a mysterious stranger with too many answers... to questions that are deadly. When Veck and Sophia are drawn into the ultimate battle between good and evil, their fallen angel savior is the only thing that stands between them and eternal damnation.

Good book

I like the book, but... There are just a few things that tiptoe on the side of "Ummm, I can't believe you have to Male Arch Angles screwing each other and one getting gang raped by a hoard of demons. I could have lived without a few of the details. I am not religious, not gay but reading this doesn't hurt my feelings, however the ideas the purpose is based on is slightly contradictory. Of course I am not sure if that is the reason I like the book and raising an eye-brow at the same time.

Fantastic stories

I am really enjoying this series of books by JR Ward. This book as with the first two in this series is well written and enjoyable along with suspenseful. I especially love how in each of the fallen angel novels there is at least something of the black dagger brotherhood in it.
Really looking forward to the next installment in this series.

Anthropopathic Angel Anomalies

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. Readers/listeners need to schew their perspectives on the afterlife and the battle strategies between angels n demons. JRWard puts an interesting twist in the Fallen Angel series. Jim Heron and his duo kick-ass angel buddies bring a lot of color into this story. Without giving away the plot, I will only say if you've enjoyed Ward's BDB series, this one won't disappoint. Ward even weaves in characters from her BDB into this one. Since this series also revolves around Caldwell, NY, it makes sense. 5 stars for another entertaining series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Envy: A Novel of the Fallen Angels?

When Jim took the bullet meant for the hero n heroine.

Have you listened to any of Eric G Dove’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. But I like his voice n style

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reaction. Just amused by the author's take on the heavenly/hell warfare tactics

Yes!! This is J.R. Ward after all!!

Alright, so this series didn???t start with the bang that The Black Dagger Brotherhood did, but I must tell you, this series is certainly getting better and better, and J.R. Ward shows us with this novel that not only can she hold us captive to the BDB world, but she???s more than capable of doing it again with her Fallen Angel???s world and its characters.
Eric G. Dove does a good job bringing these characters and story to life, not in the dramatic way of Jim Frangione (narrator of the Black Dagger Brotherhood) but in a matter fact tone that gives this world its own vibe.
His approach to the sensuality in this book is excellent, the tone and manner of delivery of all male characters are very good, plenty of variations, my biggest complaint is the very little distinction between the female voices, but it???s not bothersome enough to distract you from the story, within a few minutes of listening you find yourself completely absorbed, and entirely disregarding the sometimes unemotional tone of Mr. Dove.
Ultimately, I highly recommend this audiobook, in my opinion, the best one of the series thus far.

BDB followers, don't miss this series

JR Ward has a wonderful way with words. Her quirky phrases, and tough guy persona's are not to be missed. This series just keeps getting better, and I love the way she intermingles it with the Black Dagger Brotherhood world. Every now and then, you recognize something that also took place, or a character, from the BDB. Very cleaver indeed. Even if you don't follow her other series, you have to enjoy this one. There is so much suspense, romance, action, and wow what a mystery going on. You absolutely don't know who will win the battle til the end. That is what the series is based on. Good battling evil, in 7 contests. Winner gets the world. This is contest #3, and I can't wait for #4.

Enjoyable

Wonderfully well developed story-line draws you in and keeps you hanging on to every word. Great characters involve you intimately from the very beginning to the very last. An exemplary work.

Different from the "Brotherhood" BUT

If you could sum up Envy: A Novel of the Fallen Angels in three words, what would they be?

Gritty, Suspense, Roller-coaster ride.

What did you like best about this story?

All "The Fallen Angels" series are really dark, darker than the " Brotherhood" in many ways. The eval that the angels are fighting is a OCD maniac, who delights in horrific tortures. Some stuff is described pretty intensely so if you have a weak stomach you might want to pass the series up. But the story line is great and Eric Dove does a great job at narration. Keep going.

What about Eric G Dove’s performance did you like?

I never heard him before this series and he does the voices and emotions of characters really well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Some intense descriptive act of violence, in this series, some people may be put off by it but the story is so fast moving that you're on to something else before you know it. I am enjoy this series very much.
