About this listen

The violent attack left Synjon destroyed and his lover dead - at the will of the evil vampire Cruen. Syn's passionate savior was Petra. When she became pregnant with his child, it should have been a blessing - until Syn vanished after discovering the truth: Petra was the daughter of the man he despised above all others. The daughter of Cruen.

When Petra's health begins to decline, she contacts Syn to help save their baby. Though reluctant to see Petra, he cannot turn his back on his own innocent child. But night after night, as his feelings for Petra are rekindled, Syn becomes increasingly torn.

Although everyone assumes that Cruen is dead, Syn is not convinced - and is still hell-bent on finding and destroying him once and for all. But will his thirst for vengeance keep him from seeing what is really worth living for before it is too late?

SINfully GOOD!!

I am a HUGE fan of both Laura Wright AND Tavia Gilbert, so it comes as no surprise that this book was frickin' awesome. The creative thought, the cultures she has built, the mythology that has been developed and the sheer scope of the Mark of the Vampire series just blows my mind. I mean, really! I can almost wrap my head around thinking of the stories but the detail of these cultures is borne of a mind that obviously cannot sit still. Synjon Wise is a terrific character that we'd met in earlier books and it was so obvious this guy needed his own book...and BOY did he get it. Petra's story is likewise one of growth, passion and love. Woven throughout all of these books are the substantially developed characters, the challenge of being redeemed and the power of commitment. Usually not fond of shape-shifters, I found myself really drawn the the Rainforest culture and, damn if I didn't want to be one.

The dilemma that Petra and Synjon find themselves in was set up in the previous book and brought to a climax (pun intended) in this one. Synjon loves Petra, Synjon hates Cruen (for good reason) and wants to kill him. Petra loves Synjon and carries his child, Petra also loves (or thinks she does) her father, Cruen. Therein lies the awful trials for these two.

I won't go into further detail about the story as it is intricate and deserves more than I could possibly give. Suffice it to say, it's wonderful.

Of ALL the wonderfully worded (and spoken) scenes, the one that absolutely stole my heart was "the little piano". You'll have to listen to this book to get that one...it was priceless.

The audio of a book is so driven by the narrator...they can make or break it. Tavia Gilbert never disappoints and when I see she is a narrator, I know I'll be pleased and not rolling my eyes at a pathetic accent or lack of passion/intonation. She gets it and gets it right. It appears that the authors rarely have input into who reads their stories, so thanks audible for having Ms. Gilbert read this whole series. It's not often a woman can 'do' both male and female voices with any sense of credibility but Ms. Gilbert most assuredly does.

If you want a great listen, one that adds yet another dimension to a multi-dimensional series, don't miss this one. It helps to listen/read these in order. I prefer to read first and then listen...the depth just gets deeper. Thanks Ms. Wright and Thank Ms. Gilbert. YAY Y'ALL!

Not my favorite

This book was a struggle for me to finish. I have read all the other books in the series and this book was my least favorite. I’m not sure if it’s because I didn’t feel Synjon transformation at the end or his depth of love for Petra and their baby. I just wasn’t feeling this book. I did, however, enjoy the cliff cliffhanger at the end. I’m soo interested in reading the next book. I think that’s going to be good. As always I enjoyed Tavia Gilbert, she has one of the best voices for narration. She adds life to each character and makes them uniquely their own.

least likable female so far

Really felt her reactions and decisions were not completely in line with her personality. Of all the evidence presented illogical conclusions were come to. Even at the realization that her father cared nothing for her, she still shunned her biological mother and faulted those who had been wronged instead of the devil of a father. Dumb biotches are pathetically annoying and erase any sympathy for the character.

ANOTHER FANGTASTIC ADDITION

In Eternal Demon we witnessed Syn (the sexy Brit) deliberately getting his emotions drained from him by Cruen and this has sadly left him a shell of his former self and he goes from one woman to another just 'going through the act' but it all leaves him cold. So he goes from being a very likeable character to a heartless b'stard but please be patient with him, he had his reasons and redemption may still be his.

But he has only one quest now and that's to capture, torture and kill Cruen (Petra's father) even when he is told Petra and his unborn baby needs his blood he's not moved enough to do anything about it. Luckily her brothers will so they capture Syn and as soon as he sees Petra again memories haunt him and when he feels his baby kick feelings and emotions very slowly start to come back. However, Petra, who has a quiet strength throughout, doesn't believe they will get a HEA and daren't trust him again with her heart but he sets out to prove it.

As always, LW's creative writing captures your imagination as you share in both Syn and Petra's heart-aching adventure and, as the riveting plot develops, it takes the lovers on an emotional, passionate, erotic and compelling journey. However, Syn's need for vengeance and revenge cannot be stopped and it may eventually poison their hard won budding relationship. There are new characters and a new world unfolding which are skilfully described, verbally illustrated and well thought out which keeps the story fresh and moving forward.

Tavia Gilbert's narration is, as always, a great bonus to any audiobook.

Worth a credit? This action-packed emotional roller-coaster is why Laura Wright is a bestselling author and, as long as she keeps writing them, I'll keep downloading them - so YES it's a credit well spent for this PNR lover.

Devastated by Series Ending

I’m so enthralled by the lives, loves, dangers and hidden daggers of the vamps, shifters and half-ers.

I don’t know what to read next! I’m lost until Danni’s life unfolds.
