About this listen

Do you like…kobolds?

Do you like…necromancers?

Do you like…pineapple on pizza?

Well, if you answered yes to the first two questions, then this is the book for you. If you answered yes to the third, well…my mother taught me not to say mean things to people…even if they do deserve it!

Money, as they say, is the root of all evil. Not having money, that is. When budget cuts at the high school where JT teaches threaten his mortgage, he’s forced to seek an alternative source of income.

Using the latest VR technology that lets the body rest while the mind is at play, our digital entrepreneur dives into the latest VR MMO game Argos Online with a potentially exploitative character build no one saw coming: the Kobold Necromancer.

He’s got all of spring break to see if he can grind the system for all it’s worth…or end up spring broke in search of a new place to live with his wife and young son.

YES: Stats, cursing, kobolds, slice of life

NO: Harem, explicit, pineapple on pizza

This was a really fun book and while I wanted more books, it was nice to wrap this up in one shot. I can't not rate this book 5 stars but there were a few things that bugged me, so I'll leave them in the review in hopes it helps the author and narrator.

The narration was pretty great - held its own with some of my favorite narrators in this kind of series. A little distracting at times when the narrator would pause in the middle of a sentence as if he was turning pages. It wasn't that big of a deal but did make me double take at times.

Thought the book was great but a few things just didn't feel believable to me. Like the constant outpouring of affection for the MC's family, but yet he was willing to separate himself for massive amounts of time for this extra job. It just felt a little disconnected. Also constantly telling readers why certain names were chosen because they were from his 'youth' felt repetitive.

Again only leaving this feedback for a chance of improvement. This was a fun book and I would gladly read another.

great book

The genre needs more of this! The MC is a normal, likable guy. There is no teenage drama, or oversexed OP "dude" drama. It's a guy supporting his family while have unique adventures in a game. He doesn't get stuck in VR or have to save the world from aliens. He just has fun and plays the game (though not perfectly lol). The whole adventure was fun and engaging. It was well written and well read. It's a great book and I don't doubt I will enjoy it again in the future.

Exactly what I was looking for!

Loved this book. Fun, simple gaming without the usual traps.

Basics: this is a book about a gamer that just wants to game and earn some money. He is gaming but not running from reality.

I enjoy the fact that the game doesn’t revolve around him or will cataclysmically end of our hero doesn’t… we’ll hero. The higher realms are working just fine without him and he’s free to explore the lower levels that many others have done before. So relaxing.

Thank you for this dear author. And great work with the reading, a little excited at the beginning but pans out in the end.

Great fun read

After taking a gamble with this book I ended up liking it a lot.
Want to see him all the way till the eng game when he is roling in cash.
Also want to se him fully evolved and maxt out in all things in the game.

Hope for more books in the future, maybe 9 more?

Great story and narration!

A teacher who had his second job cut in a downturn economy looks to a new VR game for an opportunity to secure his family's financial future. Naturally he chooses to be a kobold necromancer.

Maggie and Jack do a fantastic job with the narration!

This is a fun light-hearted adventure!

I really enjoyed it and hope it one day gets made into a series!

fun!

I was sold about the time the main character was a Kobold. Loved the story! Even if my favorite skeleton didn’t survive... It was such a good bean too...

Awesome!

really hoping that you continue this story. what was the secret reward, how does having the new npc class in the game effect quests...so many avenues to explore.
