About this listen

Fans of Crescent City and Scarlett St. Clair will be swept into a world of ruthless fae, forbidden romance, and treacherous bargains.

One fae prince. One deadly bargain. And a mortal caught between desire and damnation.

Cate thought she knew darkness. As a trauma nurse, she had witnessed the worst of humanity. But nothing could have prepared her for the fae underworld. A realm where beauty is a weapon, desire is a trap, and mortals who stray too far don't return. She almost didn't.

Until Lachlan Gage—shadowed, ruthless, and feared—bound her to him with a deadly bargain. As the prince of New Orleans and ruler of the Nether Court, he is as much a curse as he is salvation. And with the Wild Hunt at his heels and war stirring, even his protection may not be enough. Because Cate is more than just his reluctant mortal. She is wanted.

But something ancient is rising, warping fae magic into something unnatural and cruel. It has nothing to do with Cate's past—or so she tells herself.

There is only one thing more dangerous than the fae who would kill for her. The fae who would die for her. And Lachlan Gage has never been one to lose.

Contains mature themes.

this story keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. it is a whirlwind from beginning to end. but watch out that ending will have you hanging from a cliff!!! 10/10 Recommend! Narrators were wonderful and brought the story to life!

This book, like the first one, was absolutely outstandingly brilliant with so many swoons along with all the action, mystery, danger, intrigue, twists and turns, sex and suspense as the world-building dealt its beautiful rewards.. and its bitter blows. However, I was not prepared for the cliffhanger ending and I would never have started this trilogy (or series) if I’d know the next book isn’t available.. or even listed on Ms Lee’s website yet!! 🤨☹️😢😭🤬. Narration was brilliant too.

Worth a credit? Absolutely yes because it had everything I’d hoped for and more.. just not a happily ever after yet for these two forbidden fated Fae mates.

FANTASY AT IT’S FINEST.. BUT ANOTHER CLIFFY

We spent most of the book with FMC denying what seemed obvious from the third chapter of book one. I get it, she has trust and abandonment issues, but it still seemed like too much to me when she knew the truth all the time. Then, just like in book one, she FINALLY realizes the truth about herself and now suddenly there’s a whole new concept of Icons. Also, really slow on the uptake for the whole vampire blood thing for Cate. I’m hoping we find out what the wings are about in the next book because it seemed like a shocking development but then Lach acted like he knew about them. And Shaw?!? That needed more page time for me. Finally, I sincerely hope there’s more crossover between the Fae and Vampire, seems like both storylines are coming together, but I love the little tidbits like the Siren escaping from Oberon when Willow talks about her witch friends in Ireland. More crossover would be awesome!

Final minutes are jam packed again!! Wow!!!

The story is fine but is unnecessarily long… like 4 hours too long. Very drawn out, so many details it’s easy to get lost with seemingly random details. Ends on a cliff hanger, so if you care to wait for another long drawn out story after this, I wouldn’t waste your credit.

Soooooo Looooonnnggggg
