About this listen

Hip hip beret! Hatmakers Scarlett Parker and Vivian Tremont return and must collar a killer when a castle wedding goes awry in New York Times bestselling author Jenn McKinlay's new Hat Shop Mystery.

It's wedding season and Viv's longtime frenemy Piper May is getting married. She convinces Viv and Scarlett to take on the job of designing the headpieces for her "wedding of the year." The well-to-do bride and her entourage are delighted to have Viv and Scarlett as their famous hat designer guests, but the hat-making pair are really just looking forward to a getaway at a castle in Sussex. It is to be a weekend full of events, culminating in the big ceremony.

Unfortunately, on the first night of the festivities, the groom is found murdered, and the joyous holiday becomes the stuff of nightmares as no one is allowed to leave the castle until the investigation is complete. Although Scarlett assures Harrison Wentworth, her fiance, that she and Viv will stay out of harm's way, circumstances force them to step in when a secret affair between the deceased groom and a bridesmaid comes to light, and the murderer takes another life. Scarlett and Viv vow to unveil the killer's identity before the wedding adds another to its death toll.

Setting the wedding date!

Not as fond of this new narrator, really enjoyed the original one.
I do enjoy following these characters.

The Hat Shop ladies go to a castle!

I love this series and book 7 - Fatal Fascinator kept me guessing until the end! Hatmakers and cousins Scarlett and Viv are asked to make the hats for the wedding of Viv's frenemy Piper. Piper also knows Scarlett's fiance Harrison. The groom, Dooney, knows Andre. Unfortunately on the first night, the groom ends up dead. He wasn't well liked but now they are stuck there until the investigation is done. Andre is convinced there is a ghost (there isn't). Andre adds some humor to the dialog. Harrison (Harry) arrives to check on the girls. Scarlett and Harry make a great pair. Scarlett, Harry and Viv are wonderful characters who are likable and down to earth. The wedding party are keeping secrets and it is up to Scarlett and friends to track down clues. This book moves at a good pace and definitely kept my interest. The narrator, Allyson Ryan, was great! She is perfect for the voice of Scarlett and keeps all of the voices distinctive. Very enjoyable book and audiobook.

Great series

Entire series was great! It seemed the storyline’s just became more interesting with each book. The change in narrator’s on this last book was cringeworthy; I didn’t care for her presentation at all.

Really like to listening to the next story in the series. I always love the adventures. But really don’t like the new narrator.

Looking forward to another book!

I liked that her friends are always blended into the stories, and the crazy antics they go through! It’s an easy listen, although it will take getting used to the new narrator.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SERIES!!! MUST READ!!!

I have absolutely LOVED & THOROUGHLY ENJOYED this series! I appreciate the wit, the characters who I can visualize & who remind me of friends & family members, which endear them to me!
I have recommended this series to friends & family members too!
It's been 20 years since I've been to London & in reading & listening to this series, it makes me feel like it's only been a short while!,
I truly hope that there will be more books in this series & until then I'll miss the characters a wee bit!

Great Story, Okay Narration

The storyline is great, continues well with the ongoing plot theme. However, the new narrator left a lot to be desired, especially with the bale voices. It hurt the storyline and didn’t sound authentic. Most of the male voices were not fully distinguishable.

Hard to listen to this one

When all the male voices sound the same, and even a female or two sound like the male ones, it is difficult to follow and become a little monotonous. Good story, would not recommend the change of narrator for this one. (Different narrator for all the other books in this series, changed narrator for this one.)
