big smile on my face

Great story about finding oneself again after life falls apart. Very good pacing, great writing and would listen again.

all the love throughout the book.

I love books that you get to enjoy so much happiness throughout the book without all the breakups and makeups. This book was so perfect

A sweet, uncomplicated, largely angst-free romance

I bought this audiobook not knowing the author, but knowing and liking Iggy Toma's narrations. And he doesn't disappoint; though his voices for the individual characters aren't particularly distinctive, I don't necessarily need them to be, and he has a pleasant voice and an earnest delivery that never devolves into melodramatics, nor does he sound too clinical. So, five stars for him, but I knew that going in.

What surprised me, however, was the loveliness of the book itself, and, more specifically, the characters. And not only the two leads, though they are both eminently likable, but the secondary characters as well, which for this book means Jaden's three brothers. Each brother has a distinct personality and all are wonderful; in fact, I could have used more of them, especially Elliott. I would almost say this book seems like a setup to a series where each of the brothers is the lead, but it would have to be M/F after this one because the brothers are all straight, which is actually refreshing in a genre where good straight male characters are as rare as hens teeth.

The romance itself is sweet and lovely as well. There's no eyeroll-inducing and honestly borderline offensive "but I thought I was straight!" plot, no easily-avoidable misunderstandings, and neither character ever does or says anything that a good person wouldn't do or say in real life. It's not that there's no conflict (though, the conflict is kept to the minimum amount required to make the book interesting), but it's nice to have a book with five really wonderful characters at the center; the non-wonderful characters are all at the periphery (though they're there). I found myself rooting for the two characters to get together even more than I usually do.

I honestly enjoyed this much more than I expected. If I absolutely had to find a criticism, I would say that the ending was a bit abrupt, though satisfying. I could have used an epilogue (with more of the brothers!). But that's a super minor quibble, not even enough to take the rating down half a star. So if you're looking for angst or dramatics or straight guys in love with each other, you should look elsewhere, but if you want to see two really deserving gay men fall in love with each other and find themselves and a family at the same time, this is highly recommended. Really excellent!

The characters

I didn’t like how all the characters were just meh. No one was a standout. They all seemed beige to me. Not a bad story.

Love this one

Good story, liked all the brothers. Always lover Iggy Toma's voice. Funny lines about Jaden's reaction to Florida.

Cute and low angst

This a good listen for when you need something uncomplicated and sweet. It’s predictable and there’s basically no drama, sometimes that’s exactly what my mood calls for. Iggy Toma’s narration is good, as always.

Good bite of HEA

A feel good story that paced well although I could have enjoyed another chapter or two. Narration on point. Enjoyable read.

Jaden is well written.

As an only child myself, I could feel the accuracy of Jaden's thoughts and mannerisms. The distance Jaden felt from his brothers was completely relatable for me. Chase is sweet and adorable.
